We were lucky to catch up with Lindsay Leigh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsay, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Tell us the story of a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big, life-changing risk or a small risk. Either way, paint the picture for us, tell us the backstory and all the relevant details so we can fully understand the context and circumstances around when and why you took the risk, and tell us how it turned out
My professional career has been quite a long and winding path. When I was getting ready to go to college, I would get the common, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and my answer was always something like, “I’m not sure.” or “I’m still exploring that.” I said this because so many things sounded interesting to me from entomology to teaching to interior design. I’ve always been a jack of all trades – interested in many different things – never one singular topic.
Fast forward decades later, and I’m still the same way. I started my professional career teaching then traversed policy work and research, and ultimately, I landed my last role in consulting. These experiences created a beautiful tapestry when I look back on my journey so far in this life.
And yet, life is not about comfort, it’s truly about taking risks when the risks need to be taken. When do risks need to be taken? That’s up to you and your soul’s journey. For me, it was at the end of 2022. After working in the consulting industry for three years, I longed to break free and build a business that spoke to my heart and soul.
In 2018 I became an ICF Certified coach and took on private coaching clients off and on over the years. I leveraged this credential in my professional space as well leading teams. However, I knew in my heart that I wanted to go off on my own and really see what kind of business I could create using my own gifts in this space.
By the end of 2022, I was severely burned out and experiencing my own health problems. To me, that was the sign that something needed to change if my life was going to change. I left corporate America with a plan and an idea. When you self-finance your own dreams, there’s a lot on the line – like paying bills and supporting loved ones.
It felt like jumping off a cliff into the unknown. We are so deeply programmed to be happy with what we have and to earn money in a specific way. So pushing against the only way of life you know is incredibly scary.
Over the next 6 months working with clients, hosting workshops, and offering free events, I learned more and more how to lean into my business. The entrepreneurial journey has been a ride, to say the least, but experiencing life in this way has been more rewarding than any experience I’ve had thus far. I’ve met incredible people and supported myriad businesses and clients to help them grow and scale using a heart-centered approach. I’ve loved taking my background in business and helping others find greater balance in their careers as well as in the businesses they are building.
My ultimate goal is to elevate consciousness in the professional world by teaching higher principles of business strategy and helping those who feel empathic or spiritual find a deeply authentic way to navigate their own way in this world.
Lindsay, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an ICF Certified Coach, Advanced Intuitive Reader, BQH Hypnosis Practitioner, and Source Energy Practitioner.
My journey from a terrified child with gifts I did not understand to becoming an empowered adult after navigating an intense spiritual awakening in 2017, led me on a journey where I worked and learned from master teachers and mentors including shamans, psychic mediums, channelers, and Akashic Records teachers.
As I learned more about my gifts, I realized I still had SO much inner work to do and so much shadow work to integrate after a lifetime of repeating unhelpful patterns and programs denying my true, authentic self. I found something that would forever change my life in a truly profound way – hypnosis.
Now I offer several powerful methods of custom coaching packages, courses, and regression hypnosis that also integrate energy work + intuition. It has created accelerated healing and growth for my clients.
This work has shown time and time again to release their limitations while alchemizing their ability to step into the life and business of their wildest dreams.
I am passionate about helping my clients find a path to activate their highest potential while honoring their deep innate wisdom.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the greatest lessons I’ve had to learn is that reprogramming unhelpful or negative patterns can’t be done by sheer force or will. We have to love ourselves through it. I come from the world of a-type perfectionism, and for most of my life, I could not seem to unlearn certain unhelpful patterns and programs. It left me in a deep depression off and on through many years of my life. I constantly felt defeated and unworthy.
We have this misconception I call the “IF-THEN” statement. Or, if you’re a 5th grader in Texas, you also used this statement when we wrote a hypothesis in Science class. (I only remember that because it was required teaching back in my teacher days.)
The IF THEN statement goes something like this:
If I can be/do/feel/experience X then my life will be better/perfect/ideal/ready to be aligned to make that leap to my next level.
Another example…
If I learn this life lesson well enough, then I’ll finally be able to move through this pain.
If I can just figure out WHY this unhelpful pattern keeps playing out in my life, then I’ll finally be able to move into happiness.
Then the pattern keeps playing out. You keep feeling the frustration and the pain and the rage towards yourself. And you continue the negative self-talk, the self-hatred, the “you’re never good enough” conversations with yourself.
And the cycle just starts all over again.
The greatest lesson I learned in my own personal healing and expansion is this:
Love yourself. Love yourself through the parts of yourself you hate. Do this all WITHOUT a timeline or an end date.
This is the inner work. This is shadow work.
There is no healing by hating. Only loving. Healing is the frequency of love.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
I’ve been side-hustling since early 2018. This was also shortly after my spiritual awakening that occurred at the end of 2017. In looking back on that time, it makes sense that as my awareness expanded, so did the vision for my life.
I kept feeling this pull to explore a new way of working and sharing my gifts. That ultimately led to me enrolling in an ICF Certified Coach Training program through Inner Glow Circle – an organization founded by women, for women. Even before graduating, I began working with clients. It was a great opportunity to hone my craft and really get clear on my area of expertise.
My business grew in fits and starts. Until the beginning of 2023, my business was always a side business. And it grew and evolved with me. As I grew, it grew. Over the years I’ve used my skills in coaching to guide my teams in the professional world and also 1:1 in my own business. The main message I want to convey here – is that growth is not linear.
When you scale your business it can feel like a lot of ups and downs before anything evens out into that beautiful incline we see on financial charts. It can take time to really figure out what that secret sauce is to grow your business. I thrived when I invested in my own mentors, spiritual guides, business programs, and coaches.
Ultimately, your success is a direct reflection of your inner world. You can’t give someone something you don’t already have within yourself. Or more simply, you can’t give someone a cup of water when you don’t have one. That idea in itself has been the gift that helped me scale my business and expand my client base. In the end, success isn’t complicated. It always starts with you, your inner world, and the vision you have for yourself.
