As Bophelo Fragrances founders, we took a leap of faith and ventured into business. We wanted to start something that’s meaningful. We want to a candle making course then we came back and did the ground work. We researched the candle market and learned that there was space for our business. We created affirmation candles which provide a safe heaven for the user. We are lawyers by profession and wanted to create a space for recouping and relaxing after a long day at the office. Our affirmations are in Sesotho so ‘re leka gape’ means we try again

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

We are still trying to navigate this but we found that telling our story helps make the business more and more personal. Once the audience understands our story they more eager to buy our products as they can resonate with the story

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

We really just started from where we were investing money that we had at the time even though it was not enough but also creating a checklist of what we need and trying to ensure we get it as we go. We also asked for help and we got a free photographer and free ideas from our family members and friends, they became our marketing team
