We were lucky to catch up with Amanda Christine recently and have shared our conversation below.
Amanda, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope that my legacy will be one that makes people smile and their hearts feel warm, powerful, good, and loving. I hope that through my work, folks will be inspired to feel their best and take those positive feelings and translate them into positive action that helps all of us.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Well hello! My name’s Amanda Christine and I’m an Earth-friendly, Denver-based visual artist. I’m also a dreamer and do my best to promote joy and sustainability in everything I do, which includes using upcycled materials in wearable costume pieces and incorporating positive, uplifting images and messaging in my illustrations and graphic design. I love getting creative and using creativity to connect with others, the Earth, and cosmic consciousness.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Definitely sustainability, and connecting with the joy of living. I love to connect both of those goals and have them play together. There’s such an abundance of physical things in the world that it makes sense to me to reuse what’s already here when creating. Earth is our home and I want to do my part to be a good steward of it.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, it is the joy of getting to make something tangible out of the intangibles within – the thoughts, feelings, moods, desires, etc., that populate our inner selves. It’s incredible to me how one spark in the imagination can turn into something viewable on a page, or translate into a wearable art piece, or a painting that brightens up someone’s wall. I’m in love with the creative process and it’s what makes being an artist worth it (I think if you don’t love the journey of making something, then that modality is probably not for you). But to see the finished piece, to interact with it, to wear it!? Oh my God. That’s where all the joy and satisfaction of that process culminates and comes to life. I love that process. I love every part of it. It’s incredibly nourishing and rewarding.
