We were lucky to catch up with Maria Servin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with inspirations and heroes. Are there any historical figures you look up to?

The person that has inspired me to grow, to be authentic, stand out by representing my culture and who I am is Frida Kahlo. I love the way she expressed herself on her painting depending the situation going on through her life, her poetry and all of her background inspired me to stand out in what I do and to not be afraid to show the real me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Since I was 10 years old I would ask my parents to buy me disposable cameras so I could just take pictures of whatever seemed beautiful to me. I would have my little sister and brother pose in certain ways and I would do photo shoots of them.

As I grew up I knew I wanted to do photography for the rest of my life and capture those special moments for other people, capture the beauty of others , see nature with different eyes and being able to show others things they haven’t been able to appreciate.
As any other business there is ups and downs but consistency and discipline will help you get to the top of your goals.

I offer portrait services, family pictures, graduation, birthday sessions, business.
I charge hourly $80 and each session includes:
-1 hour session
-different outfit changes
-different locations
-all the pictures captured that day
-40-50 pictures edited

I love to keep my costumers happy and I know that when it’s your first time being captured by someone you don’t know we all get shy. But I always try to give confidence to my costumers so the session can go smoothly.
I love when costumers return to me for more sessions or they refer me to their family and friends. It fulfills my heart with joy because that shows me that they love my work and they feel comfortable with me to come back.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

The best source for me to get new clientele is my previous clients. They show their pictures in social media and that’s when their families or friends ask me for more information.

I will be forever thankful for all my clients that share my content.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

My goal is to be recognized by my work. I’m still learning new things everyday for me to be able to improve and be better for my clients
