We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jamie Jackson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jamie below.
Jamie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
Absolutely, I started Humorous Resources in September 2020 on a whim. I was an HR Department of one, in healthcare, during a global pandemic. I felt so alone, and I have always found humor an easy way to bring people together. I never knew it would become this community of not just HR Professionals but of corporate professionals commiserating over our lives in this corporate world. Shortly after, in July 2021, I started Millennial Misery. A place where millennials can submerge themselves in nostalgia. I always say I accidentally built a meme empire!
I wish I had created my pages sooner, but I think they took off because of the pandemic and why they have remained successful to this day. I’m with the everything happens for a reason mindset.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As an elder millennial who is chronically online, I find inspiration in just about everything. Whether is a photo or video, anything can become comedy gold. People are always shocked to hear that I am a corporate girlie still working in corporate America. I draw a lot of inspiration from my career over the years. I also draw a lot of inspiration from fellow content creators and comedians. I always make sure I give credit where credit is due and who I drew my inspiration from.
What I am most proud of is not my follower count, its these amazing communities that I have help create. We have been able to call out red flag job descriptions, companies with bad policies or hiring practices. I have also made a huge push in giving credit to fellow creators for reposting their memes and or videos. We can all share the love.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Honestly, I just want to make people laugh. And to me, it really is that simple. I like to take current trends and put a different spin on them. I hope to one day be able to make a big impact for good with the help of audiences.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Simple things really, liking and sharing posts. Engaging with the post – example commenting on the content. I think a common misconception is creators make money from engagement, we don’t. We make money with brand deals. So if you like a certain creator and they post an ad – interact with it.
