Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Petrichør. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Petrichør thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Enzo; I don’t know, when I first figured out that i could make these sounds and have them sound good enough for people to enjoy it became an addiction and I never wanted to stop.
Tess: I knew I wanted to take music seriously once others began to express how much my art helped them.
Thomas: It was sometime after playing in a band that playing on stage became this rush and peace within me and that feeling became that thing I wanted to keep chasing for the rest of my life.
Petrichør, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Enzo: I’ve been playing the drums since I was 13 but only recently got into the scene as of last year thanks to being introduced to my great bandmates and since than it has become an obsession and I’ve been very anxious and excited to see where the band will go since.
Tess: I got into Miami’s local music scene when I was 14 years old. I started off as a solo artist. I would play a gig once in a blue moon but I’d focus on recording in my bedroom instead. I started taking the performance aspect of my career much more seriously and that’s when I decided that I wanted to join a band. Petrichør was born and now we are just beginning to leave a mark starting in Miami to the world.
Tommy: My family was always musical and so I took up guitar at age 14, learning essentially every Nirvana song and slowly expanding my musical taste and knowledge. I played obsessively and eventually got to play with my own mother in her cover band where I learnt how to play with seasoned musicians and grew a love for improvisation and jamming. My desire for creation and originality lead me to pursue and make the connections that eventually landed me being in Petrichor.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Enzo: Money, I wanna be rich so bad. Also being a huge mainstage/headlining band and having thousands of people play our music.
Tess: My personal goal driving my passion to perform is self improvement. The constant processes and hardships towards being better makes me feel a lot more optimistic to continue anything I do.
Thomas: My goal is to grow musically, I’d love to push the boundaries of what I can create, and to deepen the relationships I have as well as make new ones..
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Enzo :I think looking at a large crowd that’s enjoying the music we play would be the most rewarding thing for me playing live. Otherwise. seeing how we grow online and actually creating original music with my bandmates never gets old.
Tess: The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing the results out of something that used to be nothing. Music and overall art is very therapeutic to me so being able to see others enjoy my creations is very validating and therefore pushes me to continue to do what I love.
Thomas: To me there’s a certain level or state of consciousness that you can get on stage, I crave for that connection between my bandmates when we are all on the same frequency and just feeling everything with our whole being.
