Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Stevens. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chris , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I think I can speak for all of us when I say I’m glad we started people food when we did. We’ve all been in other bands before when we were much younger and none of them seemed to work out, Now we’re a little older, a little wiser, and we have a much more clear idea of what we want to do.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello world! We are People food! A band that believes you should quit your job if it makes you unhappy and pursue what brings you joy.
We are known for our strange prog rock songs and our somewhat outlandish stage antics.
The inception of People Food is as follows: One night after a DND session Steve asked Chris and Nick to have a jam session. We got together at a rented space and wrote our first song “Wood Portal” and in that moment we knew that we had fallen into something special. After that we would continue to write songs and started playing some shows and we were having a ton of fun.
Not too long after we had decided to make a food item for our merch table and Steve came up with a recipe for a pickled hot sauce. The hot sauce was just starting to become a hit when Covid struck. Suddenly we found ourselves out of jobs and out of ways to play music live so we started filming and putting on “variety hours” as a way to promote ourselves and other bands, artists, and performers.
Eventually the world opened back up and our hot sauce became a hot sauce and pickle company! And we got right back to playing live shows.
I think what sets People Food apart from other bands is what drives us, and that is: the pure love of having fun playing music. Would we love to be rich and famous? Of course. But we all know that we do what we do because we love to entertain people with weird whacky songs and goofy antics (juggling, skits, prizes for best dance etc)

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Honestly, the most underrated resource is talking to people that do what you want to do. Whether it be music, visual art dance, etc. Ask them how they got started, what they do to prepare etc. Most creative people are eager to help out anyone starting out.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Entertaining people for sure. Seeing people light up when we play a song or do some whacky thing warms my heart. I’m also particularly fond of the feeling you get when you start writing a new song and you’re just like “yes yes yes I love this”
