Jing, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I believe that everything that has happened in the past is perfectly aligned and unfolds as it should. Life is filled with imperfections, which in turn make it even more perfect. My entrepreneurial story carries a lot of impulsiveness and youthful enthusiasm. Just after graduating, I had a strong desire to prove myself and wholeheartedly pursue what I wanted to do. If my entrepreneurial venture had not been successful, I would have sought a stable job. However, I persisted and persevered until now. If I were given another chance, I would hope to remain calm, be a brave girl, and have faith in my decisions. I would immediately act upon the entrepreneurial idea as soon as it arose.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Mona Jewelry is the eponymous jewelry brand I founded in 2019. “Mona” is the French name, meaning an ordinary little girl. It doesn’t hold any special meaning but rather represents the hope it gives me. I aspire for Mona Jewelry to transform ordinary girls and boys into extraordinary ones through the medium of jewelry.
Entering the jewelry industry seemed like a natural progression for me. After studying jewelry design in France, I came to the United States to obtain my GIA GG (graduate gemologist)degree. Following that, I established my own eponymous brand, Mona Jewelry, with the intention of having a fresh and comprehensive platform to showcase my abilities.
Mona Jewelry currently operates two distinct lines: fashion jewelry and high-end custom jewelry. We not only regularly release our fashion jewelry collections, each with its own marvelous story, but also cater to the unique desires of our clients through high-end customization, crafting one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.
Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 was undoubtedly the biggest challenge for us, and I believe it was not just me. It posed significant challenges for many businesses and companies. During the global outbreak of the pandemic, I nearly lost my entire team. There were no business activities, and all plans had to be put on hold or canceled. It was a prolonged period with no income or cash flow. It felt like Mona Jewelry, which I had just established, became a mere decoration. However, I am also very proud of myself. We persevered through these difficult times and managed to overcome the toughest moments. A global crisis like this posed unprecedented challenges for many individuals and businesses. In the face of such adversity, persistence and adaptability were crucial. By maintaining a positive mindset, adjusting our business strategies flexibly, and seeking new opportunities and solutions, I was able to navigate through this challenging period. Although the pandemic brought about many difficulties and uncertainties, going through such hardships also facilitated personal growth and insight. My determination and resilience enabled me to endure and overcome this challenging phase. This experience might have made me stronger and more confident in facing similar challenges in the future.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
For Mona Jewelry at its current stage, participating in offline events has proven to be the most effective way to expand our customer base. As Mona Jewelry is still in the development phase, offline events allow us to directly engage with new users and make new connections. It has shown to have the highest conversion rate for us
