We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alma and Raquel Fisher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alma and Raquel below.
Hi Alma and Raquel, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Raquel and I are, “The Fisher Girls.” We are a Christian gospel-duo. We sing non-traditional music. Singing non-traditional gospel music alone is challenging in an orthodox genre, but people love our sound! If we had given up at the first sign of rejection, we would not have made it this far. We have won multiple awards, since our short journey from 2019 until now. Thus, we think it takes diligence, consistency and courage. We believe that we can do all things through Christ which strengthens us and as long as we walk in our purpose we will succeed.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We are “The Fisher Girls” a gospel duo. Our names are Alma and Raquel Fisher and we are biological sisters. We sing and we write all of our own music and our sound and style of music sets us apart from everyone else. We have a jazz/blues tone and our music reigns with healing because we have been touched with great pains such as the loss of one of our brothers, our mother and our father. These pains produced melodic sounds and the success of these sounds reflected in our success to our single: “ Narrow Way.” This song reached #1 on BDS Internet Radio Chart and charting in the 200’s on Billboard charts. Our perseverance has also led to us being featured on Ebony Magazine as: “Influential Black Women.”
How’d you meet your business partner?
Raquel and I are blood sisters and we have always been super close. We started singing in our elementary school choir. We later started singing in church. We often sang as a duo and used to frequently be called to sing together at church. We used to be called to sing so often that we attempted to duck being asked by slipping to the bathroom. It was inevitable. We were always destined to sing together.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A story that illustrates our resilience: We recorded our hit song: “Narrow Way” a total of four times, until it was perfected.
