Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Raji Alberty. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittany, appreciate you joining us today. Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
The craziest transition in my business has been dealing with life from divorce, deaths, and becoming a mom. I’m going to focus on becoming.a mom and how it really shook up everything in my business. In fact, I transitioned my business model all together. Honestly, when I came home with this beautiful child I wasn’t prepared for postpartum. NO ONE I mean no one ever talked about what my body would go through afterwards. I literally drove myself home from the hospital (I didn’t know I wasn’t suppose to) I paid for it big time. From no sleep, swollen feet, postpartum contractions my mental state was in bad shape. I thank God before I went into the hospital I set up systems in my business and notify my customers and audience of my childbirth. My people showed up for me. My clients sent me rest money, my customers brought me food, and my community showed up from cleaning my house to meal prep. It was a blessing to see that I meant this much to them. My child was six months before I ever brought diapers.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a proud mamaprenuer & socialite who teaches magical marketing strategies to busy mamapreneurs, who need to stand out in crowded marketplaces & scale with automations. I’m a third generation entrepreneur. I have one daughter, Amara, 2 (which means ‘grace’ in Igbo) and I married my best friend, David. We are a 100% self-employed family, jogging businesses, a baby, and everything! Fun fact about me is that I’ve lived in every time zone in the country. As a digital marketer, coach, content creators and founder of R.I.C.H. Mama’s Club is a social club for moms of color. I wear many hats. It’s important to me all my campaigns and efforts lead to DEIA focused projects. The African American Marketing Association listed me as one of top 50+ back markets on the rise in 2022.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that I can do it myself. Often black women in business struggle to scale our operations because we lack team and systems. When I learned to outsource tasks and employ technology the game changed for me. After taking appointment by hand with a book system I frustrated when clients kept missing appointments. I found a booking platform that had reminders that I can post in my link in bio and I would wake up with several paid appointments with non refundable deposits. It helped me save time and make more money.
Can you talk to us about your experience with selling businesses?
I sold my IP (Intellectual property) Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind: inventions; literary and artistic works; and symbols, images, names and logos used in commerce. Businesses are often unaware that their business assets include IP rights. My advice is the document as much as you can in your business. Someone is struggle to do what comes easy for you. My friend who was a course creator for Google at the time encourage me to make an online course when I was ready to transition out of my business model. It was the best thing I ever did. I realized how much I learned and how valuable it was to the marketplace.
