Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Deb Aro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Deb , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I began my journey as an interior decorator and acquired my first clients during my first annual decor sale in my garage. Holding a decor sale proved to be a great way to attract potential clients and showcase my skills. I focused on creating an inviting and visually appealing atmosphere that highlighted my design style and skills. I was prepared to answer questions and provide advice to those who attended the sale. Once I had established a rapport with a potential client, I offered a tour of my home and showed them examples of my past work. I received numerous compliments on the staging of the sale items as well as the design of my home which led to my first 5 clients. House to Home Decorating evolved from here. :)

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Ever since I can remember, decorating has been my passion. I began making handmade decor and named my endeavor Aro Designs. When my friends and family began asking if I could help them decorate their home(s) I realized there was a need for affordable decorating services to help homeowners bring their vision to life. This led to the evolution of House to Home Affordable Home Decorating, LLC. Providing cost-effective services that cater to the needs and budget of the average homeowner is what differentiates me in the industry. My focus has always been to stay up-to-date on the latest design trends while keeping a keen eye on what is timeless and classic. I am thrilled that I am able to help people reimagine their spaces and create a lifetime of memories!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Harnessing the power of Word-of-Mouth has been the most effective tool in gaining new clients. . It’s a simple equation: satisfied clients are likely to recommend my services to their friends and family, which can then lead to new business opportunities. To encourage positive word-of-mouth, my focus is on providing excellent customer service and delivering high-quality results. In the future, I plan to take this a step further by offering referral discounts or other incentives to clients who recommend my services to others, as a way to further expand my business.

How did you build your audience on social media?
As an interior decorator, building a social media account was a challenge that I was determined to overcome. It was a learning experience that took time, effort and a bit of help from my daughter! Hehe. I spent countless hours scrolling through Instagram to gain insights and understand its purpose. I started by identifying my target audience and developing a content strategy that catered to their interests. Curated hashtags and high-quality visual content showcasing my design skills were instrumental in increasing visibility. Consistency was key, and posting regularly at optimal times was essential to maximize engagement. Engaging with followers by responding to comments and messages was also an important piece to extending my reach. I learned that followers want to see the face behind the account so I began creating reels of myself doing my work, which was definitely outside of my comfort zone. Posting and scrolling on social media remains a challenge for me as I try to balance work and family. Recently, I celebrated reaching 1000 followers, an exciting milestone that has motivated me to continue to grow my account by collaborating with other influencers and brands in the industry.
