We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Summer Foggie . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Summer below.
Summer , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I didn’t launch my business until July of 2020, But i came up with my business name years before that. Me and one of my old friends at the time were talking and she was like let me look up how to say Summer in spanish, which is Verano. I added an A on the end just to spice it up a little bit and just added Shop in front of it. I love my business name so much. To me, it rings bells!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always been into fashion. Ever since i was a child in elementary school i would always get my mom to buy me those fashion kits to press designs down on your jeans or the kits where you could make your own beaded bracelets and necklaces. As i got older i knew i wanted to be my own boss, and i knew i always wanted to be doing something in fashion and accessory, so i just got the idea one day to start selling jewelry. Selling the most quality and stylish pieces to the girls and boys! My favorite jewelry that i sell is the 90s style gold hoops and i’m sure my customers can attest to this! I brought it wayyyy back, and plan to expand with more varieties!

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When i first started my business, i didn’t know anything about anything! I actually recently relaunched my business on May 4th 2023 after taking a mental break for a year and also spent that time taking a business course in my community to help me learn more about running a business and how to be successful. One thing i learned was to have business accounts and separate them from your personal accounts! That’s the best thing i ever could’ve done lol. I’ve never taken out any loans, i invested one thousand dollars into my business after starting over again after that break. I used the money to purchase my best selling jewelry from when i first launched in july of 2020, sold out and repurchased again. Doing this consistently helped me grow my own capital and helped to expand more.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
It’s okay not to have everything together at once with your business. It’s okay not to know every single thing. Learn as you go, and keep on pushing towards the goals you have with your business and you will be successful !
