We recently connected with John Leo and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, John thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaning project I worked on was my recent project called “La Vie en Rose”. The idea started with a song I was listening to in January called ‘El Cantante’ by Hector Lavoe. Due to my music background, in classical piano, I really loved the orchestra part of the song and thought I could make a great video to this music. I then was scrolling through instagram and came across a picture at the Nemours Estate. I thought that this place would be an awesome place for a photoshoot and videoshoot.
I then reached out to at least 15 models on instagram asking if they would be interested in this project and very few responded. It took a lot of reaching out to people and refining my pitch in order to get the right people at the right time. I was very happy when we actually got together and starting capturing the moment.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So I started When I was in college, I bought my first laptop and I was displeased with the default wallpaper. So I spent hours on google looking for the perfect picture to set as my wallpaper but I could not find the perfect picture. Until it hit me “why don’t I take my own pictures to set as a wallpaper. That is when I bought my first camera. Then friend asked me if I could take a picture of them for their event. I was then requested by a few other people to take pictures for their event. I then started to upgrade my camera (more than 3 times in one year) because I was not pleased with the image quality. After getting my first medium format camera I started to grow in the fashion industry.
The type of services I provide for my clients are weddings, fashion, campaign, products, and events. My niche is offering high depth quality images to my client so that they are able to enlarge the photos as large as they want without losing any quality or details to the images. I am also a consultant during the day and I am able to transfer my skillset that I’ve gained from being a consultant into my photography business so that I can cater to my client needs.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice
I believe NFT is a good vehicle in order to put a price towards an art piece and allowing the artist to reap their return on investment. It also allows artists to truly test their artistic passion.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My artistic mind is what drives my photography journey. I truly believe art is truly a gift and a keen for detail with a story to tell. Telling a story is what drives my creative journey.
