We were lucky to catch up with Lotunja Wright recently and have shared our conversation below.

Lotunja, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

In 2018 I experienced pregnancy loss…for the second time. It was during that time that I told God, “If I don’t get busy for you, I’m not going to be good for anything.”

I knew that that type of blow could have sent me into a total tailspin and I needed inspiration, so because I had already learned that when you need inspiration, you have to give inspiration, I created a Christian blog to inspire women. (www.apushedwoman.com)

In learning about how to create my blog, I learned about affiliate marketing being a means to monetize blogs. So, I started monetizing by becoming an Amazon affiliate, which was so much fun!

Fast-forward to August of 2022, I was browsing online and came across “High-Ticket Affiliate Marketing.”
Being no stranger to affiliate marketing at this point, I was intrigued by what high-ticket affiliate marketing could bring, so
I signed up for the $7 training and learned much more than affiliate marketing!

I learned digital marketing which includes social media marketing, email marketing, funnel building, video creation, copywriting, and of course, high-ticket affiliate marketing.

Because most people are online, this skill set is exactly what many business owners need regardless of if they have an online business or a brick-and-mortar business. If your customers are in digital spaces, it only makes sense to learn digital marketing in order to effectively reach them.

My approach to applying these skills is simple. I show people who are interested in earning more income how to do it through learning digital marketing skills, which are, by the way, high-income skills!

The online training that I took gave me first-hand experience with an education that would cost tens of thousands of dollars from a traditional school. It gave me access to another side of life. It’s my aspiration and purpose to spread the word so that others who are financially struggling can learn these high-income skills in order to escape the financial shackles that are normally placed on us from learning low-income skills that pose as stable careers but don’t serve us well after we’ve been in our career for a few years.

What excites me most about being a digital marketer is learning more about the type of person I am underneath the college and career training. I have become more creative, more of a servant-leader, more of a problem-solver, and more confident. My mission is to make sure that others who are feeling stuck in their careers get to have these same life-changing experiences.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Lotunja Wright, a.k.a Passive Income CEO. I am a freelance digital marketer, self-published author, blogger, and educator.

After spending five years as a high school Language Arts teacher, I have spent the last 16 years as a School Library Media Specialist.

Earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education inspired me to continue my career in education by earning a Master’s Degree in School Library Media.

I have enjoyed my time in education, but after taking a digital marketing training online, I learned high-income skills that have changed my life.

My enjoyment and passion are creating tutorials on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram showing others how they can earn income online. I do this because I wholeheartedly believe in time freedom. As I age, I understand that money can be replaced, but once time is spent, there is no replacement.

Having a background in education, I know many educators who are looking for more income or even replacement income. Freelance Digital Marketing provides that extra income that can become life-changing.

There are many people who need extra income but the logistics of having to drive to a second job and be there another 4-6 hours is unrealistic, especially with having a family. Earning passive income online eliminates the need for commuting and spending even more time away from home. Digital marketing provides flexibility that could not have been fathomed 20 years ago.

My “why” is serving God by being able to bless my family, my church, and others. I also want to enjoy life by having time freedom and financial freedom while leaving a legacy of helping others do the same.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn that learning high-income skills was only for certain people who had a certain education and spoke a certain way.

I’ve realized there is space for everyone! For example, there are those who really like the sound of my voice, but I was very fearful that my voice would turn people off.

Sometimes we are our own worst critics, but even still you have to take a chance on yourself. Otherwise, whatever situation you are currently in that you don’t like, you’ll have to remain in it because of your fear to try something different.

A little backstory: I’ve always wanted to be a public speaker, and my dad was such an amazing speaker. I’d be so proud whenever I’d hear him speak, and so I would always strive to try to be better in that area.

When I felt that I came up short, I had to embrace the fact that I may not necessarily speak like my dad, but I can still be amazing in my own way and have a story that can reach and inspire people.

I’m spilling all the tea here because I think it’s important for people to understand that when you don’t give up, you can accomplish some amazing things.

Here goes…I built this business during a time when I developed a mold illness from my job and had to take Family Medical Leave. (I literally did not know if I would make it.) I dealt with unbelievable fatigue. All while going through lupus complications that were probably spawned from the mold illness…while trying to raise a 3-year-old who was going through the “Terribles.”

My faith in God, constant prayers, and exercise routine is what I know delivered me from some of the darkest days.
