We recently connected with Tiffany Ramos and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
As a child I was always artistic. Instead of dolls I always asked for art supplies. I enjoyed anything and everything that allowed me to be a creative. I always wanted to do something creative with my life so now that I’m able to it’s really fulfilling.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Tiffany. I’m a tattooer and spray artist in Central Florida. I wanted to transition from corporate America into a creative role that would allow me to make money and support my family. I got into tattooing because it seemed like the best jump to make money from my art since I was friends with so many artists in the tattoo world. Regarding spray painting, I went to Miami Art Basel and I was inspired. The people I was with were all painters and I was given the opportunity to paint on the last day of being there and I fell in love with it. Now I do murals and paintings all over central Florida and I love it. I think what sets me a part is I invest a little of myself in all of my art whether that be a tattoo or a mural. Whether you’re sitting in my chair or watching me paint a wall I give a little of myself into my art. Also, after you sit in my chair you’re a part of my legacy. Learning from other artists and building my art legacy is definitely what sets me apart. I’m proud of my journey in this community and that I’m always willing to learn to improve my craft. I would want any clients and followers to know this is a safe space and I’d love to make art with them. My community takes part in my evolution.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think the most important thing is funding art in schools. Art programs are always getting cut in public schools and I think it’s incredibly important for children to see that art is important and can be a career.
I also cannot stress enough how important it is to support local artist. Small businesses, small artists, when we put our money and effort into the creatives in our communities we can have a much more beautiful creative space.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to support myself. Growing up I always thought it wasn’t possible to make money and support myself and my family from my art. Sitting with my family and knowing I am living and enjoying life because of my art is wonderful and it helps break down stigmas of artists and the world of working in art.
