Taking a risk is an integral part of any business venture, and I’d like to share the story of how I made a daring decision to purchase a SheShed for my wellness and beauty services. In 2021, I noticed a growing trend among women who were transforming their SheSheds into salons, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Witnessing their creativity and resourcefulness inspired me, as I struggled to find an affordable space to perform my services.
I searched tirelessly for a suitable location, but every option either proved too small or came with exorbitant rent prices. It was disheartening, but I refused to give up on my dream. One day, while scrolling through Facebook, I stumbled upon numerous posts about SheShed salons. Intrigued, I began researching the necessary permits and regulations, determined to explore this alternative further. My search led me to discover talented Amish builders in a town located an hour away.
To make this dream a reality, I used my savings and dipped into a portion of my 401k to purchase a 10×20, 200-square-foot cottage-style shed that perfectly aligned with my vision. Due to the surge in popularity during the pandemic, there was a six-month wait for construction. However, I remained undeterred and eagerly planned the shed’s interior, from the choice of paint and flooring to the overall decor.
Despite my excitement, finding a contractor became a challenging endeavor. I reached out to several contractors for quotes, but unfortunately, they either ignored my inquiries or failed to respond. Frustrated but determined, I decided to shift my focus to the e-commerce aspect of my business while putting the search on hold. I continued to build my online presence and work on the business strategy.
A year later, I resumed my quest to find a contractor. Realizing I needed guidance, I turned to Facebook and posted a request for recommendations. A gentleman named Brandon was highly recommended by the community. He visited my shed, understood my vision, and provided a quote within a few hours. It was a relief to finally find someone who shared my enthusiasm and promptly got to work.
Throughout the process, doubt occasionally crept into my mind, making me question if purchasing the SheShed was the right decision. However, Brandon’s expertise and dedication reassured me, as he meticulously brought my vision to life. Seeing my shed finally completed filled me with immense joy and a renewed sense of purpose.
Originally, I had planned for a grand opening in early 2023. However, fate had a different plan. In January, I was involved in a severe car accident that left me unable to speak for months, as my tongue was split in half. Despite this setback, I refused to let it dampen my spirit. During my healing process, I continued working on my business, adding the finishing touches to keep the momentum going.
Eventually, my tongue healed, and in March 2023, I was able to hold my official grand opening. It was a momentous occasion, symbolizing the culmination of my perseverance and resilience. The SheShed had become a physical representation of my unwavering dedication to empowering women and providing them with holistic wellness and beauty services.
Through this journey, I have learned that taking risks can be both challenging and rewarding. Despite the obstacles and setbacks, my determination and passion fueled me to overcome them and turn my vision into reality. The SheShed not only embodies my business but also stands as a testament to the power of resilience, unwavering belief, and the pursuit of one’s dreams.

In 2018, I, Taira Flint, embarked on a mission to help women feel confident both inside and out, thus giving birth to The Glam Goddess Collection. Initially, I started by selling hair extensions and lashes, providing women with tools to enhance their external beauty. However, as I engaged with my customers and listened to their stories, I realized that true confidence stems from a holistic approach.
A year later, in 2019, I made the pivotal decision to rebrand my company and delve deeper into the realm of wellness. This decision was rooted in my personal journey towards holistic well-being. I experienced a transformative change in my own health and well-being, and I felt compelled to share this with other women.
The logic behind my decision was crystal clear. Through my exploration of holistic wellness, I discovered the profound impact it had on my life, encompassing mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It became evident to me that I needed to create a platform that would empower women to embark on their wellness journeys, equipping them with the necessary tools and resources to achieve their goals.
What sets The Glam Goddess Collection apart is our comprehensive approach. I believe that true beauty emanates from within, and to that end, I incorporated various aspects of my life into my business. I expanded our product offerings to include meal plans, waist trainers, and fat burning creams as part of our weight loss line, aiming to assist women in their fitness endeavors.
Under our beauty line, we offer herbal bath salts, skin care products, and teeth whitening kits, embracing a holistic approach to skincare. Additionally, I am a staunch advocate for mental health, which led me to create a line of mental health journals, enabling women to explore their emotions and nurture their well-being.
Recognizing the importance of feminine care, I developed a line of yoni products to address women’s specific needs. Moreover, I offer a unique service of yoni steams, providing women with a serene and relaxed environment in which they can experience the benefits of this ancient practice while enjoying refreshments.
I envision my business, The Glam Goddess Collection, as a one-stop shop, where women can find a diverse range of products and services to help them feel their best. Witnessing women regain their confidence and embrace their inner and outer beauty is what truly excites me.

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
In January of 2023, as I prepared for the highly anticipated grand opening of my SheShed and the launch of my business, fate dealt me an unexpected and life-altering blow. While driving down a dimly lit street, with limited streetlights and cars parked on both sides, I found myself in a heart-stopping situation. A dark car, its headlights turned off, suddenly appeared, hurtling towards me at a reckless speed. With nowhere to turn and fearing a head-on collision, I instinctively swerved, ultimately colliding with a parked car.
The impact was devastating. My body was violently propelled out of my seat, and I crashed into the rearview mirror and dashboard, causing severe injuries. Blood covered my mouth, and the source of the bleeding remained a mystery in those chaotic moments. Fortunately, someone at the scene dialed 911, and soon paramedics arrived to administer much-needed treatment.
It was during this traumatic incident that I discovered the extent of my injuries. The paramedics informed me that my tongue had been split in half—an excruciating realization. As the authorities reached out to my family to notify them of the accident, I was swiftly transported to the nearest hospital. The pain was overwhelming, and simple tasks such as speaking or eating became arduous endeavors. I was left with no choice but to subsist on a liquid diet, causing a significant weight loss.
Throughout this difficult time, I couldn’t help but reflect on the gravity of the situation. I realized that the accident could have claimed my life, but I firmly believed that God had a greater purpose for me. Despite the physical and emotional turmoil, I sensed that I had been given a second chance—a chance to continue pursuing my calling. Though battered and bruised, I resolved to press on, knowing deep within that my purpose was far from fulfilled.
In addition to my personal recovery, the accident also inflicted significant damage upon my car, rendering it unusable for a grueling 4.5 months. The journey to heal physically and mend the shattered pieces of my business became a series of tests and lessons. But through it all, I remained steadfast in my resolve to persevere.
Each day, as I woke up in pain and faced the challenges ahead, I sought solace and inspiration in the form of uplifting messages, podcasts, and the belief that I was placed on this Earth to help others. No setback could deter me from my purpose. With unwavering determination, I made my way to my SheShed daily, working tirelessly to bring it to life. I refused to squander the second chance I had been given; instead, I poured my heart and soul into creating a safe haven—a sanctuary where women could find peace, relaxation, and healing.
This near-death experience served as a powerful reminder of the fragility of life and the significance of embracing every opportunity to make a positive impact. I emerged from the accident with an unyielding conviction that I was meant to uplift and empower others. My SheShed stands as a testament to resilience, a physical embodiment of my unwavering determination to carry on my purpose and create a space where women can find solace and embark on their own journeys of healing and self-discovery.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’ve always been the kind of person who never gives up, no matter the setbacks or the doubters. Throughout my journey as an entrepreneur, there were countless moments when obstacles stood in my way, and people questioned the feasibility of my dreams. But I refused to let those challenges define me or deter me from pursuing my passion.
When I initially started my business, The Glam Goddess Collection, I faced skepticism from some who couldn’t see the potential in my vision. But I knew deep within my heart that I had something special to offer, something that could truly make a difference in women’s lives. It was that unwavering belief in myself and my abilities that propelled me forward.
As I expanded my business into the realm of wellness and beauty, I encountered setbacks and disappointments. Finding an affordable space to perform my services seemed like an insurmountable task at times. The search for a contractor to bring my vision to life was met with silence and indifference. It would have been easy to succumb to doubt and give up, but that’s not who I am.

From navigating the permit process to finding affordable and reliable builders, each step presented its own share of obstacles. Yet, I persevered. I tapped into my savings, even dipping into my 401k, to invest in my dream. I patiently waited for months, filled with anticipation and unwavering determination, until the construction of my SheShed was finally completed.
But just when I thought I was on the verge of realizing my grand opening, life threw me a curveball. I was involved in a severe car accident, leaving me unable to speak and with a split tongue. It was a devastating setback, both physically and emotionally. Yet, even in the face of such adversity, I refused to let my spirit be crushed.
Throughout the painful recovery process, I turned to my business as a source of solace and motivation. Despite the challenges, I continued to work on my SheShed, adding the finishing touches and refining my services. I listened to inspiring messages and podcasts, drawing strength and inspiration from those who had overcome their own trials.
Finally, the day came when I was able to have my grand opening—a testament to my unwavering resilience and refusal to give up on my dreams. It was a celebration of the strength that carried me through the darkest times and the unwavering belief that I had a purpose to fulfill.
My story is one of resilience and unwavering determination. It’s about pushing through the doubts and setbacks, staying true to my vision even when others may not believe.
