We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chevonne (CHEVY) Harvey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Chevonne (CHEVY), looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

Success is a notion thats different for every person. Whether it means having a great career, a home, of a family, Success is something everyone strives to attain. When you reach success in your goals it makes you feel motivated, delighted, and helps you to do well and allows you to know you’ve made an impact in a competitive world. To be successful you have to Learn from your past mistakes. Rather than focusing strictly on the outcome of your accomplishments, take note of the small mishaps that could have been prevented. To be successful you have to be committed. Through commitment, you gain motivation to pursue success. Set goals for yourself and try to reach each goal by a certain time.STAY FOCUSED in your craft, and don’t allow anyone to tell you that you cant do something.

Chevonne (CHEVY), before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

For the folks who don’t know me yet, Hello My name is Chevonne Harvey everyone calls me Chevy. I am a Black Female Photographer based out of Atlanta Ga. (My instagram is @ChevyTheShooter) I specialize in Portrait photography. I started photography when i was young about seventeen years old. Photography was my scapegoat a way for me to get away from my thoughts and every day life. Photography saved me from becoming someone i could never see myself being. I like to think when it comes to my clients working with me i try to go above and beyond to make there photo needs everything they want and more. I strive to make my clients feel as if they are apart of my family by making them feel as comfortable as possible while shooting with me, especially in this male dominant industry i want to make my clients especially the women feel as if they can be their complete selves by providing a position of contentment and security.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been word of mouth. I like to go out to bars, restaurants, live events, and just talk to people.I get to know people and by doing so i let people know i’m a photographer i give them my social media or my business card and hope for the absolute best. Majority of the time i post a lot on all my social media platforms about my work.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing my clients Happy at the end of our photoshoot sessions. Hearing how they felt so comfortable being in-front of my camera with out feeling shy or nervous. Knowing that i created something for someone that will literally last a lifetime.
