Tata, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

During my adult life, I discovered a deep passion for organizing and coordinating events. Despite having pursued an education in law, my heart was always drawn to the world of event planning. While working at a law firm for over five years, my colleagues recognized my natural talent for event management and entrusted me with organizing various company events. It was during this period that I realized my true calling.

Three years ago, I made the decision to settle here in the United States after marrying my husband. During our visits to the beach, we frequently encountered stunning picnic setups that ignited my imagination. The beauty and creativity of these arrangements inspired me greatly. One day, I reached a pivotal moment where I realized that simply dreaming about a career in events was not enough—I needed to take action.

The first challenge I encountered was finding the perfect picnic tables and selecting a brand name that would encapsulate my vision. This initial step proved to be quite difficult, but it marked the beginning of my journey into the event planning industry.

I wanted to choose a brand name that resonated deeply within my heart. With my husband being from America, he played a significant role in assisting me with ordering supplies and communicating with clients. I decided that I wanted to create a small family business, and thus I chose the name “Picnic Fam LA.” “Fam” represents family, and as we are based in Los Angeles, it perfectly embodies our values and location.

Tata, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I started my picnic business with just one picnic table and one umbrella, unsure of how it would go. When I received my first request, I was filled with excitement and couldn’t believe that my dream was coming true and people were starting to book me.

We provide a wide range of event services, including birthdays, kids parties, anniversaries, proposals, showers, tea parties, and more. Each event we specialize in is tailored to the client’s specific needs. We have a deep appreciation for details, and we go above and beyond to ensure our clients are happy. While we showcase our beautiful setups, we don’t always reveal the hard work and effort that goes into creating them. When we receive compliments from our clients after the setup, it means the world to us.

Many of our clients have become friends over time. There was one instance where we set up at Malibu, and a couple who admired our setup asked for our business card. Several months later, they reached out to us to create their wedding. We receive numerous requests asking if we do weddings, and the answer is a resounding yes. We are experienced in beach weddings. In fact, I have decided to embark on my second project to gauge interest in non-picnic style weddings and other events. This new venture is called T&T Events.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

I started my business with an initial investment of $1000. I purchased the necessary items such as one table, one umbrella, and pillows. In the early stages, it’s common to spend more money than you earn. However, my primary focus was not on making money but rather on building brand recognition and gaining people’s love for my brand. I am delighted to see that today, Picnic Fam LA is recognized and chosen among various industries. The most important aspect of any endeavor is to have a genuine passion for what you do.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?

I am a highly communicative person, and I believe that being loyal and friendly are essential qualities in the event industry. It is crucial to understand the client’s needs, their vision, and bring it to life. I take great joy in the fact that Picnic Fam LA has allowed us to forge new friendships and meet fascinating individuals along the way.
