Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kass Maren. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kass, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I’ve been on hiatus from acting for the past two years while living out of the country and I’ve really missed being on set! I have been lucky to be a part of several incredible opportunities in the past and coming back to the industry in the last few months I was given the chance to be a part of what has been my favorite experience on set so far. I worked with director Merced Elizondo and his incredible team on a project called “The Mourning Of” and had such a blast working with everyone! Being from Mexico, it was the second time I’ve been able to speak Spanish for a role and it was a very moving and meaningful experience working with other Latinx artists and creatives on this project.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Before being in the industry I loved taking acting classes for fun without really planning to become a working actress. I’m sort of a shy person so Ive always enjoyed being able to inhabit different characters and being able to play in different worlds but always felt nervous thinking about actually going on auditions and facing the rejection actors face every day. But I had a friend who recommended me to an agent and while it was definitely nerve wracking going on auditions at first, I am so glad I took the step to do one of my favorite things while now getting paid for it (haha). I’ve been given opportunities to be a part of several incredible projects such as The Purge, Queen of the South and a few others and am very much looking forward to what the future holds.
I can confidently say that I have a great work ethic and that is something that has set me apart when being on set. No one enjoys working with someone who is late and/or rude and while encountering these types of people on set is extremely off-putting, it’s a good reminder to always be kind and considerate to others.
Next up, I’m hoping to take part in a project with an lgbt storyline- being in the community, this is something I’m hoping to manifest in the near future!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I am actually quite terrible with social media (haha) – being a pretty private person, I’ve tried to avoid it but realize it can be extremely important for networking in whatever industry you are in. I deleted my instagram in 2020 but re-joined a couple of months ago and I’ve found I am getting a bit more used to being on social media and I’ve been learning so much about making connections through it. For anyone interested in connecting the only two social media accounts I have are below:

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
This might be a popular answer among the acting community but auditioning in itself has been a journey that has built so much resilience within my life. As an actor you face constant rejection and learning to grow from it and not take it personally has been fundamental in getting to the place I am now. When auditioning I do everything I can to present the best audition possible and if I don’t get the role it doesn’t destroy me- a lot of times they are wanting a specific look and even if you give an amazing read, you might not fit the view of the character which is completely outside of your control. I now see auditioning as an opportunity to play and have fun instead of something nerve wracking and it’s been such a blast.
