We were lucky to catch up with Laura Tucker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Laura thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My hero is my 6 year old son. He was born 1lb 11oz. If it wasn’t for him i wouldn’t be where i am today. I had him in 2017 2 years before covid and it was hard keeping up with a 9-5 along with being there for him. I had to find a way to be able to have him near which was comfortable for me other than asking for help. Lashing has always been an interest of mines. I actually started selling lash strips in the beginning until i was able to save up to take a lash class. I had my insecurities growing up and lashes helped boost my self esteem. I said why not help other women feel good about them selves along with doing something that i love. My son is not only my hero but now he knows that whatever you put your mind to you can do it, don’t let anything stop you. He also helps me around my suite. What better assistant to have than your baby lol.
Laura, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Laura, I am 29 years old, started my business up in september of 2020. Lashing is definitely a service that takes a lot of practice and patience. I call it my therapy. I help my clients feel good about themselves, make them feel beautiful. It’s important to build a friendship with my clients to make them comfortable. They even know that if they need to vent i am all ears. If you ask anyone they will say i’m the sweetest lash tech. I go above and beyond for my clients. Squeezing them in at any time and i mean ANY time, i communicate very well, and i love to keep a positive energy. I am so proud of not giving up even thought times were hard. Keeping a business afloat isn’t heavy but keeping your eyes on the prize and being consistent will keep you going. I want people to know that after having a service with me you are guaranteed to feel amazing after your nap (i am extremely light handed) You can be yourself with me.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I really just started my page up and shared it with my personal page, as well as using hash tags when posting content. It helped a lot with the kind of audience i wanted to build, as well as certain reels I make I try to show my face so that people can know who their getting a service done by and have some type of comfort.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I remember when i jumped into getting a booth with only having a consistent 4 clients that came and supported me from home. I remember not being able to afford it at one point but i never gave up, i invested in more business cards and promoting my brand on social media. I ended up being able to after a year move into my own suite, Stay consistent
