We were lucky to catch up with Jay and Aaron the Ignorant Geniuses recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jay and Aaron, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Well we’ve been in group chats with our friends for quite some time discussing various topics and one day we decided, HEY! why don’t we start a podcast because we’re already talking about all of this stuff everyday anyway so it was just a natural transition to turn it into a digital brand. We’ve always had a passion for sports, music and other media looking up to the sports anchors and other media moguls growing up, this has fell in line with our dreams to become well known content creators.
Jay and Aaron, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We’re a fun and dynamic group that are trying to solve the worlds problems with a little humor and maybe a little ignorance sprinkled in, we’re just trying to display our interest and ideas on a larger public platform. We take the barbershop conversations and flip it on it’s head trying to give you insight into our everyday conversations, I think coming up as friends we’ve always said we need a reality tv show and I think this is the beginning of our media footprint. we just want people to feel like one of our friends sit down laugh and enjoy the conversation you might not agree with everything but you can love our honesty. We just want to build our brand from a hobby into a business getting enough followers to monetize and sell our merchandise, we’re really just friends that turned a passion into a legit brand and we want the world to see it.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being able to enjoy discussing your passion and hobbies with friends and getting to see other people enjoy it as well. we enjoy hearing the feedback on how it gets people through their day and how they’re fans of the show.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We built our social media audience by word of mouth, being direct, and connecting with other people in the industry. Some advice we would give is to not be scared go out there and promote your brand, be loud let people know that you’re serious about your craft and also be unique come up with things that people rarely see and most importantly stay true to yourself never change to fit an image.
