We recently connected with Kenneth Sierra and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kenneth thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Back in 2018 at EDC Las Vegas I was walking by a stage to get a drink while Slushi was performing. He stopped his set for a minute and started talking to the crowd. During that moment he said something to the effect of “three years ago I was standing where you are…if you want to be up here you can too.”” For whatever reason at that moment what he said really resonated with me. I literally looked at my wife at that moment and told her I wanted to make this music and perform. Right when we got back from that trip I started researching music production and building a studio.
Kenneth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I would consider myself first officially in the music industry when I signed my first record back in 2019. While I’ve been involved in music since I was a child, really after my first signing did I begin to understand the inner workings of the music industry.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, to find my 1000 true fans. A true fan is one who will support you throughout your career in all endeavors. Purchase your merchandise, travel to your shows, purchase or stream your music the second it comes out, spread your brand to everyone….etc. For every musical artist out there it takes 1000 true fans to fully sustain your career and enables it to become your primary job. Once this is done, you can fully focus on spreading your music as far and wide as possible which, I would argue, is every musical artists biggest desire. With a world population of 8 billion people, it’s my job to find 1000 of them.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes! Outliers by Malcom Gladwell. When I first heard about this book people kept recommending it to me and telling me how it would change my life. After multiple people completely separate from one another told me the same thing I went and purchased it. To be quite honest, every single person was correct. This book changed my entire outlook on success and approach to any goal. The premise of the book is how success is truly achieved. It explains in extreme detail and through examples of many of the most successful people of all time how success is when prepared meets opportunity. It explains stories of how Bill Gates became Bill Gates, how the Beatles became the most successful rock band of all time, how certain athletes made it to the top of their sport…etc. This book I would recommend to any person and I attribute a lot to my current momentum in the music industry.
