Andres, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

I was experiencing a period of stability in my life where everything appeared to be aligning perfectly. I had a deep sense of contentment with my job at the time and how my life was going. Nevertheless, there was a persistent question that began to intensify within my mind.
What’s next?
That simple question started to change everything and more importantly  that sense of stability. That question was growing bigger despite my efforts to ignore it.
However, it appeared as though I had arrived at the pivotal moment in my career where I craved a fresh escapade and a brand-new challenge. My tenure as a professor had undoubtedly been one of the most exhilarating aspects of my professional journey, yet I found myself entangled with an abundance of untapped ideas and unachieved projects. My creative energy was surging and intensifying with every passing moment. Consequently, I began developing a few side ventures, but they only served to intensify my desire for change. Finally, I took the plunge into uncharted territory and made the audacious decision to put my teaching endeavors on hold, in order to provide an opportunity for my personal aspirations to flourish. Though the endeavor proved to be more daunting than initially anticipated, I eventually mustered the courage to do it. And now, I wish to impart a few insightful ideas that I have gleaned from this courageous undertaking.
1. There will undoubtedly be countless moments where you question the rationale behind your actions. Nevertheless, I suggest you reconnect with that sensation that propelled you toward this decision.
2. The initial rush of excitement will inevitably fade, and it will be replaced by fear and uncertainty. In these moments, take a deep breath, embrace the inherent mystery, and have faith in the process.
3. It is crucial to recognize that your original plans may not run smooth as envisioned. However, in times of uncertainty, redirect your trust inward, believe in yourself and acknowledge the power and competence that reside within you.

It can be quite challenging to reflect on the past and wish for the knowledge you have acquired in the present. In reality, I have come to realize that going through growing pains and difficult challenges is the necessary learning path for any personal and professional development. Throughout my career as a visual effects artist, I’ve comprehended the art of mastering skills, yet my insatiable curiosity and relentless pursuit of storytelling in innovative ways have ceaselessly propelled me toward uncharted horizons and formidable trials.
Having thrived in the realm of teaching for over six rewarding years, I made a determined decision to pivot back into the industry, focusing on transforming my visions into cinematic reality—a remarkable endeavor that finds its inception in the creation of my very first feature film. This courageous leap and determination to follow my dreams, catapults me into unexplored phases of my career, pushing me beyond the realms of imagination, revealing unforeseen avenues of growth, and imparted invaluable lessons in self-discovery and the audacious art of pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone.
