We were lucky to catch up with Taya Hawkins recently and have shared our conversation below.

Taya , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?

The legacy i hope to build is an empire of what i do now. i want everyone to know how much of hard worker i am and how much pride, time & effort i put into my business. i do this for my family, my future kids and myself!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I started my journey all because i hated my job & knew school wasn’t for me. i worked so hard, used my last check and invested into doing nails. i’m very creative and artistically talented. i never knew doing nails would get me where i am now because i genuinely had no mindset. i love nails always have and in a way it all came naturally.. when working with my clients my passion becomes more important and it makes everyone happy when my ideas get to flowing and we get to work together! i love that people leave my chair happy and wanting to come back! that’s one of the things i’m most proud of. i’m also very proud of myself for not giving up through all the downs i had. going through my depression, suicidal thoughts, having to pick up something else to do on the side, im very grateful! a lot of my followers didnt know until i expressed this. alot of my clients didn’t know either but i’m grateful that everyone still supported to the furthest extent.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

SCHOOL IS NOT ALWAYS NEEDED! i went to college for 2 years. growing up, alot of our parents tell us school is the only way even schools teach us that’s the only way. you don’t have to go to school to be successful!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I honestly don’t know how i got all my lovely followers. you know the saying, “the work speaks for itself” i do think that’s true but it can also be your attitude & i got the best of both worlds. i do show a lot of my personal life & personality in my business page. IM HUMAN! a lot of people gravitate to me just because of my personality & i love that as well!
