We were lucky to catch up with Stephanie Daily recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie , appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I spent 13 years in the insurance industry. In my last job as a Territory Manager for a large insurance company, I had great success. In 2007 when the mortgage and insurance industry tanked I was let go from my position. Seven days after I got married. After that happened I decided insurance was no longer for me. Fortunately, I have a very understanding husband. He suggested that instead of going to another insurance company, I do something I really wanted to do. I did several different things before I fell into social media management. I was a social media manager for 10 years. I met amazing people and had a great time doing my job,
I’ve always had a passion for cooking. My grandparents had a restaurant in the late 70’s – early 80’s when I was growing up. Honestly, I walked around like I owned the place. That’s really where my love of food began.
I was doing well in my social media career, I met some incredible people and was invited to do really cool things. While I was working for an agency a friend of mine lost his wife to cancer. She was an incredible person, so positive despite her diagnosis, loved fearlessly,
After she passed away I attended her celebration of life. I remember telling her husband “I didn’t know what to do so I brought you a lasagna.” After the celebration I was talking with my Cousin and said something about “sending a friend a lasagna” and she said “That sounds like a business” I said no. That conversation became an idea, which flourished into my business which is now “Send A Friend Lasagna.”
I remember telling my husband that I wanted to quit my full-time job and try this lasagna business idea. I told him “I don’t know why but I feel like I have to do this, if I don’t I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.” He heard me and October 31, 2019, was officially my last day at my full-time job to take the leap into Send A Friend Lasagna.
Then the pandemic hit in February/March 2019. I labeled myself an “essential worker” as I was delivering food to people during lockdown. The pandemic was frightening, but in a way, it helped my business model.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well, I did turn 50 this year…
If I could give anyone who has a passion like mine for lasagna _ or whatever you are passionate about I would encourage you to go for it. I had good friends of mine tell me I was crazy, leaving my full-time job. I’ve completely reinvented myself – which I didn’t think was possible at 50. I’m here to tell you – you can do it. You can absolutely do it and don’t let anyone tell you you can’t because you absolutely can.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I’m a cash business. I’ve never applied for a business loan, I do have 2 employees that do a great job. If I want to grow I understand loans might be a possibility. It’s not a concern for me.
