Hi Isaac, thanks for joining us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.
Unfortunately, most digital marketers get stuck at the 5 to 10 client mark before they get burned out and in some cases even difficult to track down by their existing clients. In order to scale to 50 and 100 plus clients you must start thinking and functioning like an agency.
Since overextending is the common reason for business failure in this industry, you will need to find the time and resources to properly train your team to be able to interface with clients to achieve their objectives.
Also, you will need to find an ideal “dev area” aka work environment and location. This “lab” is a headquarters which is a mentally healthy place where your team can focus and produce results from. Our HQ happens to be an office in a quaint shopping and restaurant area 2 blocks from the Pacific Ocean in the Los Angeles area.
In addition, you need to embrace and harness technology such as CRM’s, funnels and re-marketing. For example, a CRM is a system to organize your clients data, send out tickets to your employees through and monitor project timelines.

I took part in the first ever Adwords campaign occurring in the travel vertical, and have been heavily involved in their ad platform and online marketing since.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best business is still the one of referrals, via personal introductions. I recommend not hesitating to share your results with people in your personal and business networks. Also, having digital presence allows for new vendors to find you, and open an ongoing conversation.
Having existing clients willing to recommend your services to other will confirm your ability to do the work for that business so they can gain market share.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Making sure there they have a comfortable lifestyle in terms of the intangibles. For example, how far is their daily commute? Maybe it’s best to target new hires who live within 15 minutes of your office? Is remote work an option so my employee can afford to buy a home out of state instead of renting in LA area and start building more personal wealth?
Another morale builder can be achieved through reducing anxiety for them as much as possible. What time does their daughter need to get picked up from school? Can we create a flexible schedule to allow for that, while still being available to provide a high level of service for our clients?
