We were lucky to catch up with Tiana Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiana, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I have participated in to date involves designing my own tarot deck and having it featured in a new popular tarot deck that comes out later this year. This was the first time I stepped into the tarot arena and declared like ‘no, I’m more than a reader. I’m also an author/designer with a vision and it deserves space here too.’ Doing that and putting it up on Kickstarter and having it be recognized by Seven enough to have him want to feature me in his project The Alleyway’s Tarot & Oracle Decks was and is a big deal because, not only am I now a part of the 7th highest funded kickstarter of all time, it solidified my first mind and thoughts/feelings about my path as more than what I was settling for and allowing myself to be.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
What Up Y’all!
My name is Tiana Davis aka Tiana Divinergy. I’m a Lightworker, Writer, Entertainer, Tarot Reader and Deck Designer. My deepest desire is to create magical things and safe spaces that give people the opportunity to be open, honest, transparent, and vulnerable, so that they may heal their deepest wounds, unleash their inner Goddess, and take back their power.
Growing up, I didn’t have any examples of how to be feminine or use the magic of Divine Feminine energy to manifest the life I desired and knew that I was worthy of. Thus, Haus of Divinergy was born.
Haus of Divinergy was created as a brand to help women reconnect to their Divine Feminine Energy ie Divinergy. This space has been curated with the hopes of restoring that power to all the Queens and Goddesses of the world giving them the tools and services they need to:
Reclaim Their Power & Sexual Sovereignty
Provide Them with Guidance & Clarity on Their Respective Healing Journey’s
And fully embody their Divine Feminine Energy for the rest of their lives
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Sure! So with the design of my tarot deck Divinergy Tarot I went through a million tests. When I initially reached out to and found my designer Chinkal on Fiverr and we started working together, I was living in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom luxury apartment (that I almost got evicted from and still to this day have no idea how I didn’t end up on the street) and going through my first real spiritual awakening of who I was as a priestess and healer. Beginning in April and for about a month straight, spirit would wake me up at 3am like clockwork with ‘downloads’ (messages from god/spirit/the universe) of this project it wanted me to create. It started showing me images of Egyptian landscapes and Lemurian symbols that it wanted blended together into one beautiful/cohesive format, so naturally as a tarot reader I thought to capture it in a tarot deck.
To make the story a bit more spicy, I decided that I wanted to move abroad permanently around the same time, so I began setting my sights on a country to relocate to, and settled on South Africa. So in mid-August of 2022, I set off on the adventure of a lifetime, spending about 4 months in South Africa between Johannesburg, Pretoria, and CapeTown, along with a brief stint in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia before spending three months in Dubai and having to come home to Kansas City in early March of this year. When I left the states I had a great job as a hiring manager for a logistics company clearing upwards of $5-7,000 per month, so it was easy for me to invest into my deck at first because I had essentially eliminated my living expenses by leaving the country, selling my car and legit like 80% of my belongings to do so.
When I lost my job in November, even though I had no idea what I was gonna do and couldn’t legitimately make money in a foreign country being on a tourist visa and running out of money, spirit still told me ‘do everything you can to finish this tarot deck. I promise you it’s going to change your life.’ So even when I didn’t have it, I maxed out credit cards and moved money around to finish all 78 tarot cards, the guidebook, and the design of the tuck box to house them in.
Once the deck was finished, I tried raising money for the first print of it back in February, and the campaign failed hard hahaha I was asking for a ridiculous amount of money my first time ever doing a fundraiser like $20,000+, so I understand why it wasn’t reasonable at the time. During my campaign though, that’s when Seven found me and asked me to be a part of his new deck he was dropping in May. And after being featured in his campaign and launching my own Kickstarter a second time, this time around my deck was successfully funded and I’ll be able to get the first-run print made at the end of July and on my way to building my spiritual empire.
There were many times along the journey I wanted to give up on myself and on bringing this idea to life. But after holding the prototype in my hand and seeing the magic Chinkal and I created and spirit giving me more downloads for more decks, I now know why none of the other avenues in my life worked out, and I’m so grateful that this time I’ve created something that no one can hold over my head or take away from me.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think that many traditional workers misunderstand creatives and think that we all are okay with struggling to make ends meat while we get our ideas off the ground or create our next project or ask for their help with bringing one of our ideas to life. That’s never the case. Art isn’t something you do because you want to be famous or make a lot of money. It’s something you were born with intrinsically wanting to do and to be. You as an artist can’t help that your god-given gifts and abilities that come naturally to you all lie within the creative realm. Sometimes, hell, we want to be ‘normal/regular’ and just be happy getting a job in finance or technology or business too. Because those are the realms in the 3D that make the most money and make it look like life is all good. But as Wayne Dyer so eloquently put it, we choose not to ‘die with our music inside of us.’ So, we create simply because it is a part of our existence. And without it, we wouldn’t be Us.
So, even when it looks like I’m failing miserably or I’ll never figure my life out, support me anyway. You don’t have to understand a creative’s journey to love that creative through all of the chapters of their being and growing and learning and evolving. Just accept them for who they are and support what they do because when you support their art, you support their essence. And that means more to us than anything.
