We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nya Wallace a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nya , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I am a true visionary so designing my tray sets came to me naturally. It was more about trying to produce it and bring it into the physical. When I first started I was only using paper, scissors and a printed image. As I advanced and received more customers I began purchasing other tools to help bring more value to my products. One of my favorite machines is my Cricut. The options are endless. I learned how to operate it through logic, Facebook groups and the infamous Youtube University.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I own and operate an online smoke boutique named Pretty Elevated, We provide unique smoking accessories that are customized by hand. Customers have the option to select any image or colors they want They can also choose from one of our original sets. Rolling tray sets are my biggest seller which includes includes a rolling tray, ashtray, lighter and stash jar. Sets can be altered or substituted by the accessory and design of your liking.
Pretty Elevated has some new things in store to help expand and enhance our services. One of them being a subscription program. This will allow customers to get accessories and vaping products delivered to their front door on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Receiving compliments on my work is rewarding alone! To have someone wanting to purchase something that I visioned and bought to life is so dope to me. Being able to make a profit out of your natural talent is a blessing in itself. I’ve had several customers tell me that they still use my products years later. That made me so happy. I cant thank my supporters enough because that’s what keeps me going too.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Other than social media, I would say doing festivals and pop-up shops. It gives you a chance to get your brand out locally with individuals that have similar interest. Networking will always be key in business.
