We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shaun Crawford. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shaun below.
Shaun, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Probably the first time I watched “The song Remains the Same” that Led Zeppelin movie.
There’s a shot of Jimmy Page starting the solo to “Stairway to Heaven” where it’s him with his Double Neck guitar as a mirror image. It was the coolest thing I’d ever seen and that’s when I knew I had to be apart of music some how.

Shaun, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a musician originally from Dallas, Tx currently residing in Seattle, Wa. I preform and record for a wide range of bands in the PNW including Acid Tongue, Stephanie Anne Johnson, and Seattle supergroup RUB (Full list of bands I play for are on my Instagram @jangle_reinhardt) I’ve toured all over the US and Europe making memories along the way.
I’m also in the process of recording my first solo ep merging the worlds of Soul, R&B and Shoegaze (I call it soulgaze) looking to release late fall!
I started playing music around 12 years old when I first picked up the trombone and tuba (No one wanted to play either instrument so they saw I was tall and said ‘yeah you’re gonna play these things’) after a few years of being in marching band I wanted to switch to something new and I wanted to give guitar in the jazz band a try.
I never got into the jazz band but my 14th birthday I was gifted a guitar and haven’t looked back. I started touring with a group out of Dallas when I was 18 by the name of Thieves of Sunrise where I shared songwriting duties and played lead guitar.
After a few years with thieves I moved to Seattle for a fresh start filling in with different groups, and slowly developing myself as a solo artist, as well as honing my skills as an instrumentalist to offer my abilities to those looking for an extra ✨spark✨ to their music. With many years touring and recording under my belt I’m always looking create with others whether on stage or in studio.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Probably seeing an idea grow and mature with time.
There’s so many times I’ve been in a group where the demo I’ve done sounds nothing like the final recording.
It does take some getting used to but after you hear the ideas your band mates bring to the table you start seeing how dope collaboration is.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I remember after sometime in Dallas I wasn’t satisfied creatively, the shows were a lot of work for crowds that didn’t really appreciate it at the time.
I had a ton of family point out how much I loved Seattle when I would go on tour and pretty much were saying “You need to go there, there’s going to be more opportunities for you artistically” around 2018 I finally decided to move from my hometown to Seattle and to this day it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
