Kiontai, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I chose to pursue an artistic/creative path professionally because I am deeply passionate about the power of storytelling and artistic expression. Through my creations, be it stories, music, or other artistic works, I aspire to connect with people on a profound level and evoke emotions that transcend time and boundaries. Art has a unique ability to capture the essence of the human experience, to convey complex ideas and emotions in ways that resonate deeply with others. I believe that art has the capacity to transcend language and cultural barriers, allowing people from different backgrounds to find common ground and understand one another. By creating works that endure the test of time, I hope to contribute to a collective human experience, leaving a lasting impact and a legacy that will inspire and move generations to come.

I, Kiontai Lawson, also recognized as “TheMaskMusician,” and the owner of Lawson Music Publishing (LMP) and TheMaskMusician LLC, have chosen to embark on a professional artistic/creative path driven by a profound desire to create works that resonate with and inspire others. My diverse talents as a musician, actor, model, and creative director allow me to break boundaries and challenge norms within the entertainment industry.

Music is where my creative passion truly shines. Since my debut in 2014, I have poured my heart and soul into bringing my stories to life through my music. I aim to touch the depths of my audience’s emotions and connect with them on a profound level, creating narratives that resonate throughout their lives.

My music headquarters is based out of San Antonio, Texas, I seamlessly blend R&B, Rap, Funk, and Pop, infusing my up-tempo songs with catchy melodies and captivating rhythms that can instantly uplift and soothe listeners. Moreover, my heartfelt vocals evoke a range of emotions, eliciting an eclectic response among my audience.

In November 2021, I released my first album, “Love Crisis,” collaborating with acclaimed producers like Robin Weasley and Def Starz. This groovy collection of songs delivers a rhythmic feel that moves your body, while also conveying elements of an already told story and expressing a yearning for new experiences in my latest release, “Love Crisis II,” launched in March 2023.

What sets my work apart is the seamless integration of themes such as romance, heartbreak, loss, devotion, and deep regret. Through my music, I strive to captivate listeners with a tapestry of emotions, drawing them into a world where they can find solace, relate to their own experiences, and perhaps discover something new.

I take pride in my courage to be different, forging my own path rather than conforming to expectations. Unwavering discipline and a strong work ethic propel me forward, constantly pushing me to improve my artistry. My commitment to uniqueness, kindness, patience, and compassion serves as a daily motivator.

As I look toward the future, I envision expanding beyond traditional music and venturing into soundtracks for film and literature. I aspire to enrich the experience of short stories through my diverse range of sounds, skillfully creating harmonies that enhance the narrative and create a captivating atmosphere.

By pursuing this artistic/creative path, I strive to leave a lasting impact, inspire others, and be a driving force in the industry. What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative/recording artist lies in the profound connections forged with the audience. When I perform or share my music, witnessing the tangible impact it has on listeners is truly fulfilling. The exchange of energy and emotions between myself and the audience creates a unique and unforgettable experience. It’s incredible to see people connecting with my expression, feeling the music in their core, and carrying those moments with them long after the performance ends. The ability to evoke emotions and leave a lasting impression through my art is what drives me and reminds me of the power and importance of creativity in our lives.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

In my creative journey, there is a distinct goal and mission that drives me. While some may argue that everything has been done before, I am determined to explore uncharted territories and expand upon existing ideas in my own unique way. I acknowledge that there may be comparisons made, but my ultimate aspiration is to be known for my individuality and the distinct mark I leave on the artistic landscape. I want people to remember me for my contributions, my perspective, and the profound impact my work has had on them. Long after I am gone, I want my creations to be a testament to my identity and artistic legacy, serving as a reminder of the authenticity and originality that defined my creative journey.
