We recently connected with LaMarkus Palmer and have shared our conversation below.
LaMarkus, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope to build a legacy that is centered around helping others and creating positive vibes. Long after I am gone, I want the conversation to be centered around how much good LP did for the community, helping those chasing their dreams, and overall pouring more positivity, hope and joy into the world. That is what I want my brand and myself to be remembered for.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA but have been living in the Lowcountry for the past 12 years. It is moving here that jump started the journey that I am on today as a model and model coach. While I love every aspect of the modeling world, the runway is where I truly come to life. It is that passion for the runway that led to me becoming the Runway coach for the Carolina Classic Hair and Fashion Show in 2021. From there LP Model Coaching, LLC was created and now we offer services to models of all experience levels to improve and grow in their craft. LP Model Coaching, LLC hosts workshops, partners with events and organizations, and works with individuals as well! It is our goal to help aspiring models find their originality while also instilling the importance of the industry foundations.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think that what helped me build my reputation is that I work hard to teach the foundations while also treating each model as the individual that they are. I like to lead and teach by example and use encouragement as a way to motivate. Combine that with a true desire to see someone prosper and grow beyond what is taught during a session or a workshop. It’s what I like to think of as the human aspect. It’s the connection, and act of treating folks as people and unique individuals and not like a number or the next sale.

How did you build your audience on social media?
This is an interesting one because this is still a focus and work in progress for me. How did I get to the audience I have now? Posting and engaging with others both on and off of the social platforms. I mean just as important as posting regularly and interacting with your following is the step where when you are at an event networking you swap contact information and follow others. Often times, I get models and other creatives to follow me after a workshop or conversation and from there you watch it grow.
Now interestingly enough, my audience on social media is a work in progress. I mentioned posting regularly, that is one that I am still building a consistent habit around, haha. Often times, I “disappear” from social media because it can be a lot of stimulation in such a digitally focused age. What I find is helping is finding work arounds that accomplish the same goal without as much screen time needed. I recently started putting more time and energy into working with a 3rd party site that will help with scheduling posts over the course of weeks so you can truly unplug when needed and still engage with your customer base electronically.
