We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Anthony Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
I have been a creative my enitre life. And while my efforts in the past have been primarily passion projects, and while being creatively fruitful, they have not been financially fruitful. This led to me to an area where I was getting cash strapped and trying to do anything I could to earn money.
That road eventually got me to listening to a podcast about methods on how to make money from home quickly and easily. And the method that got me hooked was voice over work. I made $1K in a month in a field I had no experience in prior and allowed me to continue working on my media network and music outlets.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I originally wanted to be a rapper and hip hop aficionado. But as long progresses and circumstances change I also adjusted my view point. I am not going a much more well rounded media personality than i was when I first did an interview for your magazine. Whether it be through Youtube, TikTok, Twitter, IG, or Patreon I now connect and create much more personally with my fans and followers than before. I think making connections with people has been the biggest growth and most aggressive aspiration I have had since starting this.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think with websites like Patreon and Twitch. They allow artists to connect with people who are willing to support them but that only works if you already have substantial followings. I think bigger artists need to create pathways for up and coming artists to learn the trade from actual mentors and connect and network with their fans to grow.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Making connections with people and getting out of my comfort zone.
