We were lucky to catch up with Rosalie Orrostieta recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rosalie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
Establishing my own medical spa practice has been an exciting venture that combines the medical field with the growing demand for aesthetic treatments. Owning my practice has been a dream of mine since I started early on in my nursing career back in 2004. As a nurse practitioner, I prioritize patient safety and well being. I have dedicated years of training to ensure I bring the newest innovations, technologies and techniques to my practice. As a medical spa we offer a range of services that combine medical procedures and spa treatments such as injectables, laser treatments and skincare treatments.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a board-certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse specializing in Family Practice. I began my nursing career in the United States Army with extensive trauma and emergency medicine training. I later pursued to extend my nursing career, graduating with honors and receiving a Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University. Following my passion for helping clients feel and look their best, I obtained certifications in Botox, Dermal Fillers and laser therapy. I have over 250 hours of direct hands-on training in advanced cosmetic injectable techniques. I have been praised for demonstrating an unmatched clinical eye for achieving individualized rejuvenated results, excellent judgment, and a soft touch in performing cosmetic injections. My goal is to combine my profound knowledge of facial anatomy, caring nature, and clinical training and expertise in cosmetic injections to achieve beautiful results for our clients in a safe, comfortable setting.

What sets me apart from other aesthetic providers?
I feel my approach to anti-aging is to help rejuvenate my clients confidence. I want them to feel great in their own skin and we achieve this together by discussing their concerns and developing individualized treatment options.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I initially started my advanced nursing career as a nurse practitioner in hematology and oncology care. I chose to work in this specialized field because I had experienced how cancer can affect not only the patient but also their loved ones. My father passed away from an aggressive form of lymphoma in 2015. I remember feeling lost and overwhelmed as I tried to help him through his illness. Even though it was a very emotional and devastating time in my life to lose my father gave me the strength to go into cancer care and share my story with my patients. That experience allowed me to be more empathetic to their situations and allowed me to be a better practitioner.
Can you open up about how you managed the initial funding?
My husband and I have two small children and we were determined not to get into debt to establish our new business. We diligently saved money for years with the goal for starting a business. Once we started the journey of establishing our new business we realized we would need more initial capital than we originally planned. My husband who is a registered nurse decided to take the plunge and do travel nursing. For a whole year my husband traveled to various cities within Florida to take hospital contracts that paid better than our local hospitals. It was a sacrifice that was hard for all of us as a family since we were used to him always being home for dinner and tucking the kids in at night. But it was a necessary step towards opening our med spa. And I am happy to say we were able to put together the necessary capital to open our business!
