Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jada Love. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jada, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
What started off as an “By any means necessary” endeavor turned into what is now my successful graphic designing business. I was determined to get my first business Love Thyself 101 off the ground but I had no money to do so. In 2019 I took a leap of faith and told myself “you can do anything you put your mind to”. Once I instilled that in my mind I started creating my logo, flyers and labels for my products. With no help from a design team or marketing company I trusted my own vision and took the steps necessary. Throughout the entire process I never once doubted my skills to create what was needed for my business. Creating 1 flyer turned into to 10 flyers and creating 1 label turned into creating all my labels. I sat and watched multiple YouTube videos and beginner friendly tutorials on how to create your own website. I did intense research for weeks, then finally, I decided to make it. The journey of creating my website unlocked a whirlwind of emotions. I was nervous about showing what I’ve created to the world. Social media can be a tough place and making something so sacred public, was a risk I wasn’t sure if I was willing to take. Finally, once I felt like I had created a great aesthetic for my business I reached out to close friends and sent them mock-ups. This helped me a lot. Constructive criticism Is always needed especially when there’s always room for improvement. The feedback I received from others around me regarding my work for my Self Care Essential brand was phenomenal. Everyone was curious as to how I did it, how expensive was it and other questions that made me realize, that my self care essential brand was the main goal but I’ve now unlocked a hidden talent that could take me far. Fast forward to 6 months later in the same year, 2019 I decided to extend my services to those around me, My friends who are also business owners and entrepreneurs would let me create flyers for their businesses, It was the faith and trust they had in me that made me realize that this was something I should take more serious. I eventually created a new business page for my graphics and began charing for things like flyers, business cards, basic Shopify websites etc. In the beginning I was a bit discouraged because I didn’t gain clients right away,. It took a lot of time and patience for my business to finally expand and become a known source for graphics. Now, here I am Almost 4 years later and ive accomplished so much with both of my businesses. Once I seen that practice and consistency was all it would take to get my business started I never gave up. I would stay up until sunrise working on flyers, watching videos on how to perfect things and overall educating myself in the new field that I was in.
Jada, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN. I moved to Cincinnati, Oh in August of 2022 with the intentions of further expanding my businesses and creating greater opportunities. I started my entrepreneur journey when I was 22 years old, I am now 26. I am the youngest of 3 and the only girl. I’ve always been a very open person who’s really good with their words. Im typically the person that my friends call when they need wisdom or really good advice despite all the trials and tribulations I’ve faced. In March of 2008 I was in a house fire that lead to the death of my Mother and Great Grandfather. Over the years I noticed how sad I would become when the month of March would approach. In 2019 I had a vision to turn my pain into purpose. I decided to change the narrative of my life. I no longer wanted to dwell on the past or create the reality of being sad in March. I was evolving on my spiritual journey and new I was being equipped with all the necessary tools I needed to share my story in ways that could inspire others. I launched Love Thyself 101 March 25th 2019, just a day before the remembrance of something so tragic. I released my first blog title “Childhood Effects” which spoke on some of the things that effected me most in my childhood that I’m healing from as an adult and how I even got to a place to acknowledge things that have been passed down to me over generations. The feedback and comments from the blogs exceeded my expectations, Everyone was so happy with the blog, they loved the read. It was educational for most and super relatable. Once I found my niche I started dropping different motivating and educating blogs every Sunday. I set Sunday’s aside for self-care. Overtime as I grew in business and entrepreneurship I began selling products and merchandise that promoted self care as well as sharing my spiritual journey, I now offer motivational blogs, sage, herbal remedies, handmade manifesting journals. graphic t’shirts, bath salts, Yoni Steaming herbs and other Self-care Essentials that are guaranteed to boost your mood and add improvement to your health. From this business I was able to tap into Graphic Design. When starting my business I had no clue about marketing and branding. I knew I had a vision and I wanted to bring it to life so, I did. From my website, to every flyer posted and every label on a product I created it myself. Services most would pay hundreds even thousands for I taught myself due to determination. As months went by I noticed that graphic designing was something I was becoming greater at. Eventually, I extended my services and launched my second and most successful business Finessin Films. I’m most proud of my consistency. Becoming a full time entrepreneur wasn’t easy. It was days when I genuinely wanted to give up. Money was slow, I was falling behind on bills and every other obstacle that comes with starting and successfully building a business. I never gave up. I knew what I was doing was aligning me to something greater. Everything began to flow so naturally once I told myself “No matter how hard it gets you will not look back and you will not quit”.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on Social Media through my confidence. Social Media is a reality where you can choose to be and say whatever you please and for that very reason being your authentic self and having a strong confidence is what will draw people’s attention to you. Also, I love taking pictures but, not in a modeling way more just taking pictures for the memories and the experiences. Once I launched my business I utilized my platforms to promote. It was no longer all about my personal life, it was more about my business, Advice to those just starting I’ll say when building your social media audiences you have to find your niche. What’s your purpose behind your social media? Once you find your purpose behind wanting to build your social media, creating content and posting pictures will just flow naturally and eventually you’ll grow an organic Following. Over the years I learned that being yourself really is the best thing you can be. People love authenticity because it’s rare. When you’re being your authentic self you become more memorable. When posting on social media you have to also understand who you are posting for. If you fill your social media up with people who you’ve known from school or your old neighbors from 10 years ago you might miss the opportunity of one of your target audience members due to shooting for what’s familiar. Stepping outside your comfort zone and really engaging with the people that follow you on social media plays a big part. You have to grow relationships with people through social media as these same people are the ones that will support your businesses. I love interacting with my followers whether i’m asking questions, taking a poll or leaving comments, It lets my followers know that I am active, aware and interested in a connection.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My overall mission is building a legacy. As I’m evolving spiritually it’s a lot of things I’m unlearning to relearn. Working for myself while building and paving the way for my future kids is what keeps me going. Knowing the actions I’m taking are setting my future children up for opportunities I never had as a kid. The longer I continue to pour into myself and my business the better the rewards are; Working a job took away a lot of time that should be poured into learning self, and working on your talents. I think just overall knowing that I’m helping and healing people while creating a future full of abundance gives me all the fuel I need to keep striving.
