Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Debra Mosley-McCray. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Debra , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Every year Feet of Faith Dance Company give back to the community via toy drives or clothing drives. We have donated to women’s shelters, the Red Cross, children abusive service centers & teen boarding homes for seven years. We are often told how our dance performances have touched the hearts of many, but giving back to the community fulfills our heart the more.
Debra , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Feet Of Faith Dance Company is a great opportunity for children, teens and adults who exhibit a natural talent, gift and drive to train in dance! No experience is necessary! All levels & abilities are accepted.
From the early stages of exploring music and movement to the time when a dancer is ready to take on different challenges, Feet Of Faith Dance Company is dedicated to enhancing the growth of our dancers through dance from the inside out! Character & Skill!
We are fortunate to perform as guests at multiple events & professional staged performances throughout our dance season. As well as conducting our own annual dance concerts, dance showcases & community giveback projects.
We have won several awards for best choreography & outstanding performance awards. We are proud of having the privilege of training many children throughout the years. We’ve had parent testimonials stating how our program positively impacted their child’s esteem & grades.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a dance creative is passing my passion on to the next generation. I love watching the growth of those who I have trained in dance. The beauty of growth is that it can’t be contained or boxed in. I don’t expect my protégés to be my clones. I want what I planted inside of them to spark their own uniqueness & serve others through their gift.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My artistic goal is to always encourage someone in the audience. Dance is a powerful tool. It’s an outer expression of internal emotions. My goal isn’t a standing ovation. My desire is after my dancers perform, someone in the audience is inspired to continue their life journey without giving up,
