We were lucky to catch up with Ashleydawn Wells recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ashleydawn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Growing up my Dad was self employed ( now I believe we call that being an entrepreneur). I learned a lot of what I know from Him. Learning branding and marketing for a business at such an early age really gave me an advantage over my competition. I was taught business management and marketing your brand step by step over the last 25+ years.
I could have payed more attention. He was a genius. His idea’s literally changed every area of business that he touched.
The skill I feel like has helped me the most is being able to talk to anyone at any time.
Many people never learned the art of conversation. The most important thing to a business is communicating with your audience which in time become your clients.
Obstacles that stood in the way? Me! I got in my own way a lot. It’s crazy how we let fear of failure keep us from even trying sometimes…
Ashleydawn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I do a little of everything. Branding and Marketing, Advertising and Business Development. I also plan events for my clients and do a lot of networking.
I started in business as a child helping my Father with his business. I remember creating business cards with him, and passing them out to our neighbors.
He taught me how to go after my dreams.
I like to help my clients navigate through their lack of confidence, helping them find their voice and create their brand. And then I watch them fly!
Many of my clients don’t know how to reach their audience. So I set up a step by step guide to helping them not only reach their audience but also get them involved in keeping their audience engaged and inspired.
What sets me apart? My authenticity. I am 100% myself. I don’t sugarcoat or “fake” it. What you see is what you get.
What I’m most proud about? Helping people reach their goals and having the courage to try.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Helping local businesses thrive. Supporting my hometown and community is really important to me. I love where I’m from and the more my neighbors thrive; the better our community will be. Anything I can do to help make my hometown more beautiful and successful brings me great joy and happiness.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Be real. With so many people buying followers and posting things that are not authentic, you lose a lot of trust from your audience. Once you lose that trust, it is extremely hard to regain it. From day one, I have been 100% Authentic. All followers were gained organically, all content is real. That’s something I am extremely proud of and I believe that sets me apart from other creatives in the same space as me.
