Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dino & Coretta Dean The Black Foodies . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Dino & Coretta Dean thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
While on vacation in Miami we were searching for a black-owned restaurant to support. And there was no resource to help us locate one. So we decided to chronicle our experiences in black-owned restaurants to share with others that felt the same way as us.
Dino & Coretta Dean , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are The Black Foodies digital creators and food influencers that showcase black-owned and other ethnic restaurants. We started six years ago with a Peruvian restaurant in West Allis Wisconsin. We have showcased restaurants all over the globe as well as local and nationally recognized chefs and festivals. The key to our success has been consistency and perseverance. We didn’t gain the following we have overnight. And one key component to create good digital content is to have a real passion for it and paying attention to detail. Anyone interested in creating digital content just needs to get started and dive right in. You will learn what is best for you by trial and error. Follow us on Instagrams @theblackfoodies and TikTok @theblackfoodies1 and subscribe to our YouTube channel The Black Foodies. And in closing never be afraid of a shameless plug LOL.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Miss Coretta and I have been married 31 years and met in high school. So needless to say we know one another pretty well.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
We worked hard to maintain a good reputation, by being honest and always keeping our word with clients. And don’t be afraid to distance yourself from unscrupulous characters even if they are family or friends. It takes years to build a brand and can take one day to destroy it. Be careful who you associate your brand with.
