We recently connected with Luther Chambers and have shared our conversation below.
Luther, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
The old saying “curiosity killed the cat” sounds a little different in my head. I have been a musician most of my life but didn’t realize until later in life how much I loved photos and video. Over the years I became curious about what makes a photo look “Sharp”, or what makes a video pop or look cinematic. I started conferring with other creators and also watching YouTube videos to learn exactly how to shoot. I shoot in manual mode and can’t even remember when I stopped using automatic. My shooting (photos and video) have improved greatly over the years!
I don’t necessarily thinking about speeding up the learning process. Instead, I think in terms of continuously learning. I realized that if I stayed in the flow of learning, I’ll always be able to grasp onto new concepts, new technology and new ideas. As technology changes and improves daily, it is easier for me to adapt because of that approach. I am always looking for change and expecting the change.
I realized that the only obstacle that has ever been in my way was me. If I think negatively, that will be the result. However positive thinking and processing, has proved beneficial in my growth. I have learned to eliminate words like “can’t” and “won’t”. I think more in the fashion of “I can” and “I will” which yields better results for me.
I love learning new things about the art that I create with my hands, with my cameras and with my computer. I am always trying to go to the next level.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
CSharp Music and Media, LLC is a combination of the things that I love to do which includes music, photography and video. I was asked which one do I like doing the most. My consistent answer is: ALL OF THEM! The key, for me, is context! If I am playing the keyboards or the organ at my church or with a band at an event, I enjoy that moment to the fullest! I want whoever is listening to also enjoy it the way that I do!
I I am at a photoshoot, I get a high, off of how “dope” a pic looks in the camera even before the edit. My mind’s eye can see what the final result is going to be!!
I have clients who tell me they aren’t photogenic. I always say, “who told you that?” They usually respond with, “ME”. I believe that we can talk ourselves into believing the worst about ourselves. My mission is not to just take a great pic or a great video, but I want you to be able to see the beauty that I see in the moment in the person, and in life!
I am proud of the fact that when I bought my first real camera and didn’t know how to use it. I didn’t quit. I wanted to, but I didn’t. When the pictures came out blurry, and I became frustrated, I didn’t quit. I just decided, that I was going to keep learning until I got it right!!

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
If there was one resource I wish I knew about earlier in my journey, it would simply be websites like WeTransfer! As a photographer and videographer, I have sent 1000s of files to clients and sending them would fill up my google drive and or my DropBox. I just started using WeTransfer about a year ago. It saves me space in my drive and it is easy to use when sending large files. I keep backup files on a 2TB external hard drive. I don’t want anything slowing down my creative processes!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is two-fold for me! I know when I have put my best foot forward in whatever I am creating. If I think it’s dope enough to share and gets me smiling I know that whoever views it will think so as well. We are naturally our own worst critics and I definitely want to shine through whatever project I am working on. Secondly, I want my client to have that wow factor! I want them to say “yes…THIS IS IT!!!” I also want them to comeback or refer a new client to me! Nothing beats word of mouth and repeat business!
