Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Justin Mola. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Justin, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I always knew from the very beginning. I feel that pursuing music professionally was not just a desired career path, but true calling and way of life. I was fortunate to be born to two amazing parents who are both musicians themselves, and they really exposed me to so many different types of music growing up. I was so inspired growing up by seeing my Dad play at his live gigs, being exposed to so much great music by my Mom and Dad, and by studying the musical icons that came before me. After spending years and years perfecting my craft as a musician, I slowly ventured into songwriting. As I wrote more and more, I began to actually share my songs with people. After seeing how my music and story-telling impacted others, it became so clear to me what I was put on this earth to do. I pride myself on writing music that touches the soul, and that speaks to people who feel the same things I do. I aspire to reach people who feel alone in what they experience, and I want to serve as a reminder that we’re all fighting our own battles yet we’re so much stronger together than we could ever be apart.

Justin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Absolutely. For those who have not heard of me before, my name is Justin Mola. I’m a singer-songwriter and an audio engineer based in Orlando, Florida. I initially got into the industry as a musician and singer performing at various venues and cities around Florida and Nashville. However, in the midst of recording my music in studios and such, I soon fell in love with that craft as well. I will always be an artist and songwriter, but now I am equally as passionate about being an audio engineer and working with/producing other artists as well. Currently, I still write and release songs, as well as perform my music live. Additionally, I offer recording, mixing, and production services for other artists and musicians. Most of my clients are passionate and talented individuals who have a burning desire to bring their musical visions to life, yet may not have all the pieces to bring their project together. That’s where I come in; I happily dedicate my skills, talents, and effort towards each of my clients in order to bring that idea in their head, to a commercial, radio-ready masterpiece. Whether it’s doing a simple mix of a song my client already recorded, or fully producing a song from start to finish, I always put all of me into anything I have my hands on. I also pride myself on being a true producer, in the sense that I gather all the right pieces necessary to get the best product for my client. Whether it be the best musicians, the best facilities and recording gear, etc.
I’m most proud of all the amazing projects I’ve gotten to work on, both for other artists and my own music. I always want my potential clients to know that their music is in good hands, and that I’ll always do everything I possibly can to make sure it comes out exactly how they envisioned it in their head!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Just like any other profession, a career in music has its hills and valleys. Even though I love doing music as a job, there are times where it gets really difficult, and there can be a lot of tension and uncertainty. However, I can say with every ounce of my being that it is 100% worth it. The most rewarding aspect of being an artist, and an engineer, is when you finally hit play to listen to the completed version of the song you’ve spent so long recording, mixing, and crafting to reach its fullest potential. The sound that comes out of those speakers isn’t just music, but the blood sweat and tears you put into making that incredible piece of art. It’s a feeling like no other.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A big lesson I had to unlearn is that I can do this all by myself. I’ve always been a very reserved person, especially growing up as a young kid and young adult. I mostly avoided collaboration, so I ended up learning how to do everything myself. I taught myself how to write, play every instrument, record, mix, produce, etc. This is all great and has served me well, but it wasn’t until I started networking and collaborating with other talented creatives that my music and career really started to take a turn. I quickly learned the power of collaboration and building great relationships with people. A true masterpiece is born when a collection of amazing, creative minds come together and contribute unique ideas and perspectives to achieve a common goal. I’m so glad I put myself out there to make sure I learned this valuable mindset.
