We were lucky to catch up with Kennedy Moody recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kennedy , appreciate you joining us today. The more we talk about good leadership the more we think good leadership practices will spread and so we’d love for you to tell us a story about the best boss you’ve had and what they were like or what they did that was so great?

Becca Tkaczyk has been the best boss that I’ve had thus far. At work, she leads by example with displaying the passion that she has for her job and expects nothing less from her employees. Her teaching techniques are driven by what would be effective for her employees to be successful and comfortable in their position. Not only does she care about her employee’s work life, but their personal life’s as well. She’s driven by family and that’s exactly what she makes our work environment feel like.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Kennedy Moody and I am 26 years old. I was born and raised in Toledo, OH. I have a Bachelors degree in Fashion Marketing and Management, but baking has been a passion of mines sense I was a little girl. Baking was introduced to me from my grandmother. Growing up, we used to always bake together in her kitchen which allowed her to pass down her skills and recipes to me. I decided to turn my baking into a business because my grandmother used to have a business. I wanted to continue her legacy to have something to pass down to my generations to come. At JoyMarie’s Kitchen we specialize in cheesecake desserts. We also provide cookies, cakes, chocolate covered treats, pies, and cupcakes. In our kitchen, you are guaranteed to get a taste of traditional desserts with our spin. Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

In the beginning, my main goal was to make my presences known. I wanted the public to know I was here and get an insight to what I was doing. I did this by being apart of a lot of major events that occurred in my city. These included popup shops, festivals, personal events, etc. I wasn’t driven by wanting to make money my first year which was effective for me to grow a clientele.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

The best source for new clients for me has been using social media. My goal this year has been to make social media presences more known because that’s the center of everything. Have a presences on social media doesn’t just get you recognized in your city, but all over the world so you can scale your business.
