Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Josh Bradley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Josh, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I don’t think I actually knew if I wanted to be an artist to be honest. At first, drawing and painting became an escape from my anxiety and loneliness. Anytime I picked up my pencil it felt like I was in a different world, not caring about anything else. Growing up as an only child, my pencils and paint brushes were my first friends. The more I got into this artistic dimension, the more people started to noticed my talents from the outside world. My family put me into a couple art classes at an early age and my instructors said that I excelled in my studies and knew I could go further with my art. From there, that’s when I realized my own abilities and wanted to take it more seriously and become a professional.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am 25 year old artist who moved from Gary, Indiana to Grand Rapids. I’m happily married and outside of drawing I love to binge watch movies, play basketball, and spend to with friends and family.
When I moved to Grand Rapids I wanted to get more involved in the art community. I did my research and reached out to a local art gallery called Lions & Rabbits. They granted me the opportunity to paint my first mural on Plainfield Avenue. From there, it became a snow ball affect with me getting more work.
.
I currently with graphite and oil painting capturing realism in my art pieces.
I believe what sets me apart is my humbleness and drive to want to better each day, not just an artist but as a person.
One thing I’m proud of and thankful for is my ability to create. One fun fact about my art, is that I stare a blank canvas for hours before I start painting or drawing.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal that I’m working towards currently is being able to provide for my family with my art and allowing my work to be accessible to everyone!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I would say the most rewarding part of me creating art is seeing people smile when they see my work. It makes feel like I’ve done a good job!
