Alright, Brianna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

As cliche as it may sound, if you want success, you have to work hard and actually tackle the goals that you have set for yourself. It took me years to finally devote my time to becoming an author. But once I realized that my book was not going to write itself, I buckled down and made it happen and I’m so glad I did. I was worried about what people would think about my work but they love it. The motivation from my readers have encouraged me to continue this authoring journey.

I am Brianna Nicole Blackwell, a proud self-published author and entrepreneur from the charming city of Anniston, AL. Ever since I was a child, my heart has been captivated by the enchanting world of books. Whether it was diving into fantastical realms or immersing myself in the depths of heartfelt poetry, I found solace and inspiration in the written word. The art of journaling and crafting beautiful verses became my cherished outlets, allowing me to unleash the boundless creativity that resided within me.

Rather than confining myself to the constraints of a specific literary genre, my true aspiration lies in breaking free from those limitations. I yearn to bring forth an eclectic range of works that will ignite the flames of inspiration in the hearts of readers, one page at a time. With a vibrant imagination as my guiding force, I strive to create stories that transcend boundaries, intertwining elements of fantasy, mystery, romance, and adventure. When I’m not writing, I am running my online jewelry and accessories boutique, Queen 2 Queen and publishing company that is co-owned by my sister, BriAsh Media, as well as studying for my Masters of Business Administration.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

One main lesson I had to unlearn was that everything is not about me. True, I should prioritize and always take time for self-care and self-love but in this life, you need others. Having others in your life that uplift, support, and motivate you will help you maneuver better through this maze known as life. In order for me to have a successful authoring career, I need people to actually read my book and support me. I can’t do that task alone, so I need my readers to help me get to the top. In life, it’s always about each one, teach one. I may be going up the ladder at a faster pace than the next person, but it’s important to reach and lend a hand to the next person. That is exactly why I was so motivated to start a publishing company with my sister. We want to assist those people who have a great imagination and could be a great author, but may not know how to get started. Or, they could be a self-published author that just needs a little push.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I’ve always been an ambitious person, always a hustler….I get that from my mother. When I first started my business, Queen 2 Queen in 2018, it did not do well so I gave up. Fast forward to 2020, the world was in a mess due to the pandemic. But one thing the pandemic taught me is that nothing in life lasts forever and you must have a plan B, so my plan B was restarting Queen 2 Queen. Three years later, Queen 2 Queen is thriving and I have loyal customers all throughout the United States.

Writing a book was always a goal of mine and in October 2022, I published my first novel, Never Meant to Hurt You. Honestly, I didn’t know if I wanted to be a career author and often consider myself an “accidental” author. Now, I’m currently working on my second release, which is slated to be released in summer 2023.

If I had listened to the voices in my head telling me, “Don’t do it, you won’t succeed.”, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I wouldn’t have the business that’s providing products to help women feel beautiful. I wouldn’t have written the book that laid the foundation for an authoring career that would eventually put me in a position to start a publishing house. I wouldn’t have started a publishing company that will put more people in a position to fulfill their dreams of writing books. I’m glad I fought back against the negative voices and embraced the positive whispers rooting for me and telling me that I CAN AND I WILL!
