We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dallas Ramos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dallas below.
Dallas , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about how you got your first non-friend, non-family client. Paint the picture for us so we can feel the same excitement you felt on that day.
I (Dallas Ramos) started a clothing brand in May of 2020, which was the beginning for me and my designs. I decide to start out small but simple. Make 50 (black) shorts that would feature a logo patch on one side and embroidered lettering on the other. In order for me as a local artist, I needed to create some buzz….so I decided to release a mixtape “D2W” which paid homage to Lil Wayne. I posted flyers in downtown Orlando and gave out posters at my job for people who I felt enjoyed my service and needed some good music to help inspire them. This was creating some traction and before I knew it. I had two buyers ready to cop a pair each on opening day! I went to both of their homes and delivered them personally. I was selling them at $45 a piece and one of them gave me $50, when I gave him $5 back he refused and said “that’s for you” it was a really nice and wholesome feeling. Knowing I put time and energy into something I felt worth fighting for and someone else who seem to feel the same way as I did, only made me want to go harder! And yet, it was only the beginning!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Dallas Ramos is a young introspective musical artist and fashion designer! When I was young like 8 or so I wrote my first rap and soon after I started writing poetry, fast forward a few years later I became a published writer in a poetry novel. This was a sign of things to come. I decided soon after high school I wanted to go for business and music (college) because I wanted to know how to create a business for myself but to also make sure that I would handle business the right way. In order for you to make smart decisions I felt I needed to understand how the principles of business worked. So I graduated at Full Sail University with a bachelor’s in Business. It was frustrating for the most part because college life can make or break you, then again life itself has a way of doing that all at once! None the less I took what I learned and now I’m an independent business owner and artist! My record label Rik B &DC Inc is where all my in-house production comes to life. I’ve worked with fellow artist to create their own work of art and express the best form of creativity I believe to be possible….and that is through music! Clients need to know business is first so we (In-house producers and I) need a deposit first before you enter the studio for recording, plus an hourly rate (includes mixing) but does not include mastering! So I’d say personally we as a unit make sure things are in order so we can move amicably. Plus if you can respect our business then we can provide you with the upmost service. Having discipline in the studio is important, it’s all about the vibe that help creates the best form of music. So if we are all on the same frequency, the energy will flow! Being transparent is what I believe makes us different, being honest on your approach to what you say and how you say it, we want the artist to express it in a way that connects to their own individual audience. Give them insight like “why you say it like that”, “what’s the purpose of these words”. Knowing what you want is what will make it great! I may not like the mix or a few words or ideas but if you as an artist can see a vision I don’t, I can and will respect that! If you know what you want from this experience then it shows everything I need to know, because most people don’t know what they want. I feel it will show in the music as well, so sometimes I throw out questions like “is this really what you want, you like it” because it’s all about the artist at the end of the day!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Honestly, I feel the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is simple the appreciation that fellow fans and or clients provide! Sometimes it’s a form of payment, which is always reassuring. Sometimes it’s the fact I see a fan playing my music loud down the street as I realize how great that feeling felt. It’s the fact I can create a vibration that gives energy in so many different forms. People can relate or just simply feel the same way I do, and we has humans are really more alike then we are different. So when I receive that appreciation, I feel like that is apart of my purpose in this life.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
In order to maintain a strong team or network is quote simple, everyone must aspect and understand their role. Keep in mind their is nothing wrong with growth or trying to move up in a company but in order for a unit such as my team, we all need to play our role. Having the discipline to understand ideas are important to try and see if it can be effective, while also understanding if it doesn’t work we will continue with what can provide us with the best results. So don’t take it personal when it doesn’t work out, you or someone else might find a way to make cost lower or distribution time more efficient. It’s all part of the game. As long as we try, and work together. It can all be possible, can’t let ego overcome what we as a unit have build.
