Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chapter 28. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Chapter , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

I always get asked why I choose the name Chapter 28? Here’s the truth. Growing up I wasn’t always confident. I always felt like I lived for other people and not myself. You know basically trying to live up to other peoples standards of who I’m supposed to be. I always felt like I put myself on the back burner. Everyone felt like I should have been this or that and I just wanted to be me. I always felt like I dimmed myself down for others. I knew I wanted different and I knew it had to start with me. My birthday was coming up and I knew I wanted to do something for me my 28th chapter of life would be about me. I put my happiness first and decided to name my brand Chapter 28.

Chapter , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Growing up I wasn’t confident if I was confident at all. Back then they didn’t have people that were advocates for the plus size community. When I grew up I knew I wanted to do something in the plus size industry to help women feel confident. I just didn’t know what I wanted to do. As I got older I grew the love of lingerie and the way it felt on my body. Then it hit me I said I would start a lingerie line for plus size women that look just like me with real issues, and relatable body types. I wanted it to just be for plus size women only. I never really felt like we’ve had anything just for us. I remember I use to shop online and the clothes would look good on the model and when I got it, it didn’t look the same on me as it did the model. I waisted 100s-1,000 on clothes. I knew when I did start my brand I wanted to use actual plus size models that way you don’t have to wonder what you would like in our lingerie ,because literally you will be able to see yourself in it.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

We use real plus size models so plus size ladies don’t have to wonder what they will look like in our product, because they will always be able to see themselves in our products. This is what helps us build a reputation by showing different plus size women and different body types.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn that family and friends will support you. Yes, some family and friends will but a lot won’t. When I started my business I thought I would receive a lot of support from family and friends and was disappointed when I didn’t get it. Supporting someone isn’t always about money. I had to learn that. My business will be successful even if i’m the only one that likes or shares my business post. I feel like a lot of business owners deal with this. I just want to tell you to keep going. You got this!!!!
