We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tromell Gavin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tromell thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company came when I was helping my grandmother clean her house and she had her tv playing in the background. Not sure of what channel it was but they use to play diverse music. This Hispanic song came on and the song was called rico suave. I looked up the definition of suave and thought it kind of described my personality, so I named my business Suave Visuals.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well my name is Tromell Gavin aka Mell or Suave. I’m from Cross, South Carolina born and raised on county line road. I’m a visual artist; I specialize in photography, videography, and graphic design. I started my business officially in 2017 but I shot my first music video in 2014 and did my first photoshoot in 2015. Is was always a hidden talent of mine that my older cousin KG help me really discover and put to use. I think what makes me stand apart is my people skills, creativity, and overall shoot experience. I try to make sure all my clients are as comfortable as possible and have as much fun as possible.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The main goal that is really pushing me in my desire to film my own movie one day and also starting a school for photographers/models/videographers. Film is truly a love of mine, I enjoy putting clips together and unifying a project. Every time I watch a movie I pay attention to the angles they shoot from, camera movement, color grade, scenery etc. I also want to start my own school for anyone that has the same dream and passion as I do. When I first started I did not have a mentor beside my cousin KG. I would reach out the others with more experience about mentoring me or giving tips and got rejected every time. I remember how it made me feel and I pride myself to help others when they reach out to me. So opening a school would give them different mentors and connection that they could use for life.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect about being a creative is seeing a customer satisfied and happy. It makes you feel like you did everything right to bring their vision to life.
