We were lucky to catch up with Darren Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Darren , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
This is a interesting one. Basically I was trying to figure out a name that would incorporate God somehow someway, since He is the one that had me start this. So I thought to myself well God is love and God is eternal or forever and so I basically just combined the names and said Love Eternal since that’s what He is ultimately. Ironically this was the easy part haha.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, my name is Darren and I am the Owner of Love Eternal LLC. I am from the city of Detroit born and raised by two loving parents. Love Eternal is a business the provides candles, lotions and room sprays in which there will be more products coming soon. How I got into this business is quite interesting lol. I come from a family that has a lot of back to back birthdays, and everytime for a gift I found that I was purchasing candles and soaps etc. So one day I suppose I just got a little tired of purchasing the same things over and over, and I prayed about it. Once I prayed about it there was like this instinctive push to learn how to make my own candles and products. So that’s just what I did! It started off as a hobby and as I began to actually like it, I got another push to start the actual business piece by piece and I did that as well! I believe what makes Love Eternal stand out is the incorporation of God with every product of some nature. Also what really makes the products stand out is the vessels that they are in. I didn’t want the same typical jars or vessels that most people are used to, I wanted something more luxurious and something that I felt glorified God better. I believe that accomplishing such a measure is something to be grateful for the most. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, nor have any inheritance to pay for everything lol. It’s just been prayer and movement, and hope. My aim is to have your home blessed and smelling great. Who doesn’t like a great smelling blessed home? Haha
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I remember when I first started Love Eternal, my mind was so overwhelmed with everything. I always came up with new ideas, trying this, trying that etc. When I began it was at the very start of the pandemic which definitely put a stress on the business I personally wasn’t prepared for. On top of that material had started to go up in price drastically. I was laid off of my career jobs twice and there was very little money coming in. Hey I could only do what I could and pray about everything right? So with the little money I had I decided to still do pop up events through out the city. Some were successful, some weren’t honestly, but I continued to pray to get through. It took a while but things started to pick up, people began to take notice of my brand, I made some amazing connections just by being sincere and honest. Currently I am still striving and looking forward to seeing how Love Eternal will grow. I’ve learned that even if it seems to be moving slow or not at all, there’s always a blessing nearby, we just have to push through as much as we can!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn and quickly was, DONT RUSH. Lol.
When I first started making candles I thought they were just, done and ready to sell without testing. Needless to say, that went bad lol Won’t be doing that again. I don’t want to cause harm to anyone’s home hahaha thank God for friends lol
