We were lucky to catch up with Mason Lowe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mason thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Have you signed with an agent or manager? Why or why not?
I am signed with a small record label by the name of “Hot Issue Entertainment” it was founded in 2019 by myself and a friend. We have since expanded our label globally. We have artists from the UK, USA, Asia and Canada
Mason, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always been into performing ever since I can remember. I always used to enter school talent shows and perform in front of large audiences.
When I was 14 years old, I was a contestant for the voice kids uk! This was a huge opportunity for me and only helped boost my confidence in music.
For me, music is an escape from the harsh reality that we as a society have been living in. I feel like I’m in a better place when I am listening to my favourite musicians such as : Lana Del Rey, Rina Sawayama, Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, P!nk and Blackpink. These people have inspired me. All of these people play huge parts in the LGBTQ+ community and as a gay man, these people feel like family to me in a sense of comfort
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started through promoting on Instagram, using alot of hashtags and being creative with my media. Using Canva to create the perfect posters and album covers.
Eventually I branched into using TikTok with again, the right hashtags and eye-catching videos, I began seeing more and more success and I began gaining an audience
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist, is hearing people’s feedback after releasing a new song. I’m not the best at taking criticism from others but sometimes, I love hearing what people would have done differently.
