We recently connected with Xavier Vanderblue and have shared our conversation below.
Xavier, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
Signing with an agent (at the time) felt like the coolest thing on Earth. It was one of the things that really validated my decision to get into the creative arts. I’m not signed with this agency anymore, so I won’t drop names, but of course you find out certain things about the industry that you don’t know until you’re signed. You don’t need an agent, but it definitely helps.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the entertainment industry during my teenage years. I was the little weird kid in drama class in high school, but I was cool with that. I didn’t realize I wanted to be in entertainment full time until after college. I was initially just modeling and one thing lead to another. One of the main things I’ve been proud if up to this point is accomplishing things that nobody thought I could. The first agency I ever applied to rejected me for being “too short”.
On a good day, I’m 5’9 but yet there I was walking the same runways as everyone else, and blended right in. I’ve seen myself in movie theaters, I’ve been on TV, I’ve written a book, and there’s still so much more that I want to do. When my mind is right, nothing can stop me from achieving what I want I feel like I was born to do.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
SUPPORT. A lot of the things that creatives need from an audience to really grow their craft is support the content/product/movement. It goes a long way in just getting in front of other people. If you really want to see us win, please help us do the little things it takes to get there. Like/share that post with your friends if you thought it was cool. When that new movie/song drops, check it out. Especially if it’s FREE.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My only mission is use my craft to make sure my mother never has to work again. That’s all I want. I just want to be able to go to her house one day and promise her everything is going to be alright. I got us.. Entertainment can help me get there.
