Lissandra, appreciate you joining us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.

When I think about my success I always picture my parents. This is due to the support that they have provided me with since the min I decided to start my business. At a very young age my mom and I would purchase pallets of random items to sell on offerup and Facebook market. After seeing the money we would make, I decided to use my weekly funds that my father would give me to buy my own. A young and ambitious girl was making $100 a week by reselling items off pallets. I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me in everything that I do. Especially, helping me to start the business that I now have. GRACIAS MAMI Y PAPI POR TODO LOS AMO.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Hi my name is Lissandra and I am a 23 year old business owner of lvboutiqueee. I recently graduated from UCR and was able to start my business full time right after in 2023. Business has not been easy as it takes a lot of commitment, discipline, and time but with desire to grow anything is possible.

To continue, I wanted to talk a bit of what we offer. We are a small boutique that provides wide friendly options + clothing from small- 3x. If you struggle finding cute and trendy heels for your wide feet. We are here to help you find the perfect shoes. This is something that has set us apart from the rest, because now and days many shops don’t offer comfy and trendy shoes for wide feet.

Secondly, our customer service has been top tier, because we respond in 24-48 hours and are here to help out all our customers for the best experience. I am super proud of myself for not giving up on my visions and goals.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

This side hustle has now turned into my full time job for 3 years ! This is super shocking to me because I’ve had two jobs before I could officially quit. The first job was at a Michoacána where I took the role of manager. My job was to serve, open the shop, close the shop, and make sure everything was good until the next employee came. This role was super exhausting so I decided to search for another job that maybe paid a bit more than before. This is where I got my waitressing job at Dennys. Here I learned how to serve and give the best customer service. While working graveyard, my side hustle was to sell clothing. Time passed and my business was starting to blow up because of COVID. Many shops where closed, plus jobs gave less hours, which gave me more time to focus. After seeing my business grow, I took the risk to quit that job and have now been self employed ! This proves that if you set your mind to it, you can accomplish anything .

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

We sell through Shopify an app that has been super convenient and easy to use. I would say that some of the pros for this app are, spreed sheets provided, easy payout, can upload items fast, free templetes and under $30 a month. Even though it has good things, a con can be the fees it charges if you make more money than expected. Overall, Shopify has been my go to app since I started my business 3 years ago.
