We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jenna Pizarek. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jenna below.
Jenna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
Design trends change so fast in today’s day & age. You see it in the clothes we wear, the way we style our homes, and of course, we’re seeing it in our bachelorette party themes & decorations. Thinking back to 2-3 years ago, the top bachelorette party themes were “Final Fiesta” and “Let’s Get Nauti”. Parties were focused on the raunchy element of a bachelorette and the decorations were selected to match that. Today we hardly ever see those themes because everyone is looking for something new and exciting. The raunchy décor has been replaced with fun outfits and exciting accessories to match what’s trendy. This year, “Coastal Grandma” and “Groovy & Boozy” have become super popular and we’re seeing a lot of fanny packs, customized disco ball cups, and cute gift bags. It’s important as a business to make sure that we’re staying ahead of these trends so we can offer our customers the best packages possible and be ready for what’s coming next!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jenna Pizarek and I own TC Decorating Co., a party decorating service based out of Traverse City, MI. Our focus is primarily bachelorette parties, but we also decorate for bridal showers, birthdays, weddings, and other special occasions! Our goal is simple – take the stress out of the planning & setup so that once you get to your event you’re ready to celebrate! I decided to create TC Decorating Co. after planning & decorating for a friend’s bachelorette. It was so fun picking a theme and all of the décor, but it was a ton of work to set it all up. It was made easier because the party was local, but I started thinking about how hard that would be for people coming from out of town, or people who didn’t have the time to dedicate to it. By creating this business I got to continue doing what I love, while also taking the stress off of someone else – a win win! It’s important to know that we never want to take away from the person responsible for organizing the event like the maid of honor. We’ve specifically built our business in a customizable fashion so that we’re able to bring someone’s vision to life and really make it feel like their own, just with less hassle.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Working towards building my social medial presence has definitely been a learning curve. I post on my personal Instagram a few times a year so running a business account where I post a few times a week was definitely an adjustment. I started small, worked on taking really good content shots to show what our business is all about. Then I started making reels and that’s when it really took off – people love watching videos where they see something being done, or something coming together. So time lapses, walk throughs, and setups are all things that get a lot of traction. It’s also important to use your social media as a platform to explain your business further – I like to introduce new themes, packages, or events to get people engaged. Even if they don’t need your service now, they may remember that post where you mentioned your offerings in the future when they actually can use your service.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Continuous communication with my customers is the most important thing to me. I want to make sure they feel like they’ve been part of the design process and they know exactly what to expect come the big day! I make it a point to respond to any initial inquiries within 24-48 hours, and any follow up communication usually on the same day it’s received. My customers have shared that they’ve really appreciated the quick responses to their questions. It really makes for a better customer experience and I think it’s something everyone should strive for.
